DeSean Jackson makes a bad move....

Posted November 11, 2009 on DMcnabb4MVP's Blog:

Philadelphia Eagles second year star wide receiver, DeSean Jackson may have made the biggest mistake of his short career ever, next to forgetting to bring the ball into the end zone with him during week two of his rookie season in Dallas.

No, he didn't break any laws or do anything illegally. What he did was make the mistake that many young players make. He fired his agent and hired pain in the arse super-agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Under current CBA rules, NFL players are eligible for contract extensions after their second year of service to any one NFL team. Jackson right now isn't earning the kind of money he originally expected to make through his rookie contract. See, Jackson was originally thought to be a mid-first round draft choice. But, due to various concerns about his character he slipped to the mid-second round and therefor received a less money.

Now that DeSean Jackson has proven to the Eagles and to the world that he is an elite receiver, he has taken the first step in order to acquire a contract extension or an entirely new contract all together from the Eagles.

Now, we all know that the Eagles front office are extremely tight-fisted when it comes to contract extensions. But even they are known to grant contract extensions to the players who rightfully deserve it, and there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Jackson deserves it.

The problem is the agent who will be attempting to get Jackson the extension has been known to cause the Birds front office an extremely excess amount of problems concerning players and contract extensions. Rosenhaus has been known to influence his clients to do the weirdest activities in order to force an extension or trade.

We all recall sit-ups in the driveway.

But Rosenhaus is the agent to a number of other Eagles players who have been granted extensions and new contracts without a fuss, but like much good press, it hasn't been given much coverage.

As someone who has been awaiting the arrival of DeSean Jackson, I hope his extension is awarded quickly and quietly. Because right now we do not need the drama that a Drew Rosenhaus influenced client can bring.
