Tonight's game between the Wings and Kings is two points that Detroit can't let go by. The problem is, Los Angeles needs those two point to stay in the playoff picture.Puck drops at the Joe is 7:30pm on FSD+Click the jump for more Injury trouble keeps on building for the Wings. Pavel Datsyuk, Nick Lidstrom, Jimmy Howard, Todd Bertuzzi, Jonathan Ericsson, Jakub Kindl and Patrick Eaves are all out nursing minor to severe injuries and it's possible that the list is growing. Gustav Nyquist was recalled yesterday and now Joakim Andersson has been brought in this morning, which brings me to speculate that Hank may be out tonight as it's been rumored that he hasn't been playing at 100%. Let's hope its just my paranoia. There is good news with Datsyuk and Lidstrom practicing yesterday. They won't return to the lineup this weekend, but progress is being made. All this rest for some of the star players could come in handy in April and May.Detroit needs every poi...

Trade-deadline day frustrates Wings, fans

DETROIT -- With their abundance of injuries, life for the Detroit Red Wings has been careening down a miserable path. They now find themselves in a battle to finish in the top spot of the NHLs Central Division. Gone are the days when the Wings would cruise through their divisional rivals. Many of the Red Wings' critics always pointed to the weak Central as their playground...

Red Wings GM Ken Holland on the red line, 3-on-3 OT and injuries (plus a radio interview)

Red Wings GM Ken Holland and his compatriots will make their annual trek to the Breakers’ Resort in Florida for GM’s meetings on Monday, March 12th, and while Holland isn’t sure whether he’s going to be on board with the popular concept of bringing the red line back to prohibit two-line passes, as he told Yahoo Sports’ Nicholas J. Red Wings evening news: More on Kronwall, injuries and the power play

Following up this afternoon’s off-day post: we’re (as in you and me are) going to talk about Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall escaping supplementary discipline regarding his hit on Flyers forward Jakub Voracek, and instead of sharing my opinion, as it’s not going to change yours—and trust me, in six years of doing this I’ve learned that people form their opinions when...

How the Red Wings’ trade deadline day went down?

According to Fox Sports Detroit’s Art Regner, the injury-plagued Red Wings’ management staff did in fact kick every tire leading up to the trade deadline, and while Ken Holland, Jim Nill, Ryan Martin and the rest of the front office attempted to bolster a team which currently boasts five players who started the season with the Grand Rapids Griffins going into tonight’s game...

Red Wings-Kings quick take: strong on the stick

The Detroit Red Wings’ long list of sidelined players—Todd Bertuzzi, Pavel Datsyuk, Jonathan Ericsson, Jimmy Howard, Jakub Kindl and Nicklas Lidstrom—got a player longer in the form of the flu-addled Justin Abdelkader on Friday night, meaning that, if you count back-up Jordan Pearce, the traded-for Kyle Quincey and the then-injured Jakub Kindl, Detroit faced off against Los...
