The Philadelphia Flyers lost for the fifth time this season tonight in Detroit, as they lost to the Red Wings by the count of 5-2. Jimmy Howard stopped 32 shots for the win, while his team produced three goals on the power play. Unfortunately for the Flyers, this game was another loss, as they saw their record drop to 1-5-0. …Continue reading »

Go behind the scenes of Scott Hartnell's car commercial

Probably one of the funniest athlete commercials I’ve ever seen. Great job, Hartsy.

Wings send Emmerton, Mrazek down

The Detroit Red Wings have assigned center Cory Emmerton and goaltender Petr Mrazek to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, recalled center Luke Glendening from Grand Rapids and removed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson from injured reserve. The 25-year-old Emmerton has played in 125 games with the Red Wings since 2010, scoring 12 goals with eight assists. He played in all 48 regular...

Flyers Change Goal Song Again

The Flyers are proving to be very indecisive over their goal celebration song. After retiring last year’s much beloved “Doop” (originally used by the Philadelphia Union), the Flyers decided to change it to AC/DC’s “TNT”. That lasted all of 2 home games. As they just scored, it was revealed that their new goal song will be “Light Em Up” by Fall Out Boy. If you haven’t...

Coyotes head to Philly to take on Berube-led Flyers

Perhaps all Philadelphia needed was a change at the top. The Flyers will try to improve to 2-0 under new coach Craig Berube when they host the Coyotes on Friday night. After getting outscored 9-3 in losing each of their first three games, the Flyers (1-3-0) fired coach Peter Laviolette on Monday and promoted Berube to replace him. "It just came to that point where I had a...

Wings' power play comes to life in win over Flyers

DETROIT -- After playing two subpar games in a row, the Red Wings changed things up Saturday, leading to a re-energized power play, a rejuvenated Todd Bertuzzi and a 5-2 over the Philadelphia Flyers at Joe Louis Arena. Bertuzzi, playing on Detroits first line with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, was a force all night and scored the Wings' first power-play goal of the season...

Babcock isn't done tinkering with Red Wings

One can stand around and hope some more practice makes things better or try to force improvement a bit by moving some of the fellows around while preaching: “Let’s get back to Red Wings hockey!” In no small part because he has a surplus of bodies a team very much in the process of developing young players pushing older ones in Detroit and even young ones in Grand Rapids pushing...

Lecavalier, Hartnell Out “At Least A Week;” McGinn, Raffl Recalled

Photo via HockeysFuture The Flyers announced last night that forwards Scott Hartnell and Vincent Lecavalier would be lost for “at least a week” due to their respective injuries (Hartnell – upper body, Lecavalier – lower). As I prepare to enjoy and/or endure my dear friend's wedding, here's a slate of press releases and Red Wings-related notes to fill up a Friday night. You already know that the Wings demoted Cory Emmerton and Petr Mrazek (with Jonas Gustavsson getting healthy just in time for the Wings' stretch of 5 games in 8 nights), recalled Luke Glendening and significantly shook...
