The NBA playoffs have been quite crazy this season, with former champions getting eliminated with ease (Dallas, the Lakers) and others facing off in what can best be classified as brawls. One such case of physical play has been the series between the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat. The Pacers initiated some of the extra antics with trash talking and on-the-court confrontations through the first 4 games, culminating in a game 5 that was full of flagrant fouls and possible suspensions, the most egregious being a dirty cheap shot by the Heat’s Dexter Pittman.

Pittman is sure to face a harsh penalty from the NBA league office, most likely a suspension that will be 5 or more games. While Pittman is a little used player, the Heat have to be worried about the status of forward Udonis Haslem, who committed a hard foul of his own earlier in the game.

With all-star forward Chris Bosh already out for the Heat, the possibility of a Haslem suspension can drastically affect their chances in game 6. The possible suspension doesn’t only affect the Heat on the court either, but also countless fans and sports enthusiasts who regularly bet on the NBA. Haslem’s absence would severely hurt the Heat’s already thin depth and could impact the game’s outcome.
