The Arizona Diamondbacks scratched Eric Chavez from last
night’s lineup due to stiffness in his right hip, according to Steve Gilbert of

Chavez was scheduled to play third base and bat cleanup for
the Diamondbacks. He was replaced at the hot corner by Martin Prado, and Jason Kubel was added to the lineup in left field. The decision to hold Chavez out
came after batting practice.
There’s no word on the extent of Chavez’s injury, but
considering it’s listed as soreness the Diamondbacks are likely hoping a night
off alleviates the discomfort. If not, Chavez will likely be sent for further

activated, but he’s once again battling ailment. Chavez’s talent has never been
in question, but he’s struggled to stay healthy throughout his career.
