Did He Just Compare Cullen Jenkins To Tom Brady?

Posted February 26, 2013
Hollywood my man I know you love you some veterans despite how good or bad they are. As long as they have some tenure you are all for it. It's is a refreshing twist to the businessman. A boss who overpays his staff despite their production. I honestly don't know how anyone can stay in business with that type of mentality, but it's refreshing to see as opposed to these corporate Wall Street suck jobs who try to grab every penny they can from the common man and cry broke at the same time. With that being the case Hollywood are you truly trying to say that Mike Patterson and Cullen Jenkins deserve to be treated the same as multiple Super Bowl winning and appearing Tom Brady? Since Cullen Jenkins signed a 5 year contract with the Eagles the team has a sub .500 record. Mike Patterson hasn't been an elite player his entire time in Philly and has been injured and average the past few seasons. These guys are stop gap players who are overpaid and can be replaced by younger versions via the draft who will cost less money. Now of course there are some veteran players who are over 30 the Eagles have given extensions to in the past, but the Eagles wisely never gave those players more than 3 years. Tre Thomas, Jon Runyan, Donovan McNabb, and Brian Dawkins come to mind just off the top of my head. Since Roseman has taken over he has given long term extensions and signed several players over 30 to longterm deals and frankly none of them have turned out well. Vick, Jenkins, Babin, Nnamdi, Celek, Cole, and Herremans, are guys who were over 30 or nearing 30 when the Eagles went against the Banner style and it didn't pay off. Many of those guys have now been forced to restructure or have simply been cut. The team has a losing record since making these extensions. None of the players have been the leaders they were made out to be. Heck there are stories that Nnamdi ate lunch in his car to avoid people! It's clear to me the Eagles have to get back to what they did before. Drafting an elite class quarterback, drafting young talented players, developing a great young line, and signing away other teams young players (and their own) to extensions preferably under market value. Keep them hungry for the big payday only to find it never coming here in Philly.
