Kate Upton was interviewed by FOX 2′s Jason Carr Thursday morning promoting the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition and naturally was asked about her relationship with Tigers ace Justin Verlander.  Specifically, Carr asked Upton about the supposed couple’s New Year’s getaway on the island of St. Thomas. As you’ll see in the video, Upton went stone-faced and said: “Actually, I’m single right now.  So, um, I spent my holiday in Melbourne, Florida.” The two have been considered an item since last summer when Upton was spotted in Verlander’s suite at Comerica Park. Then Upton was spotted all over Metro Detroit, including at a local gym by an IASID source, and in private rooms of Detroit-area restaurants with Verlander. Was Upton throwing up a smokescreen as she’s done in the past?  When I asked her why she was in Detroit, she said she was in town for her “sister’s wedding” (obligatory pic of her sister). We came to find out that she was a liar, liar, pants on fire.  She was definitely living in the area. It’s quite possible that Upton got sick of Verlander in the offseason because we know JV wouldn’t get sick of her.  Our sources will continue to be on the lookout to see if Miss Upton’s pants are on fire again.  Maybe neither changed their Facebook status to “In a relationship.”  With the way JV handles his business on the mound, it wouldn’t shocked if me if he bossed up in relationships either.  Yes, she’s Kate Upton…but he’s Justin Verlander, master of Major Leagues. Anyhow Kate, if you are single and enjoyed your time in the “D”, I have a buddy who might be interested… Update:  Verlander has responded via Twitter:   Source: FOX2 Detroit
