Yet another negative allegation against Lance Armstrong has surfaced today, but this one doesn't involve doping. No, this one is arguably much worse. It involves the alleged attempt at bribing a federal organization. From the USA TODAY:A representative for Lance Armstrong once offered a "donation" of around $250,000 to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the same agency that recently banned him for life and stripped him of his seven titles in the Tour de France, according to a report by 60 Minutes Sports airing Wednesday night on Showtime."I was stunned," USADA CEO Travis Tygart says in the interview. "It was clear -- it was a clear conflict of interest for USADA. We had no hesitation in rejecting that offer."The offer is said to have come sometime in 2004.As usual, Armstrong's legal team has denied the claim."No truth to that story," Tim Herman told USA TODAY Sports Tuesday. "First Lance heard of it was today. He never made any such contribution or suggestion."The USA TODAY report also cites an international investigation involving Armstrong and his relationship with the International Cycling Union (UCI). The famed cyclist has maintained innocence of doping allegations for years, but a recent report by the New York Times suggests that he might be close to admitting guilt. The amount of evidence suggesting that Armstrong did in fact use performance-enhancing drugs seems to outweigh the possibility that he didn't. With that being said, it is hard to take the side of Armstrong's here. What would USADA have to gain by making a false allegation?Via USA TODAY.
