Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers recovered from a ninth-inning blown save and scored two runs off Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt in the top of the 10th to beat slumping Colorado 7-5 Friday night.
Carl Crawford scored from third on Luis Cruz's hard comebacker that bounced off the back leg of Betancourt (1-3) and dribbled toward the third base side, and Juan Uribe followed with a run-scoring single.
Brandon League (1-2) picked up the win despite allowing Todd Helton's two-run homer with one out that tied the game at 5 in the ninth.
Ronald Belisario pitched a perfect 10th for his first save since Aug. 29, 2012, also at Colorado.
Ramon Hernandez led off the top of the 10th with and single and Crawford pinch ran for Hernandez. He took third on Skip Schumaker's single before Cruz knocked him in for just his fifth RBI of the season.
With the Rockies trailing 5-3 in the ninth, Helton fouled off five straight two-strike pitches before sending a 93 mph sinker into the second deck in...

It’s been a tough week for Matt Kemp injury-wise. First, he was hit on the right elbow by a pitch and had to be removed later in that game due to numbness.
For the second time in four days, Matt Kemp was replaced by Skip Schumaker in center field during the game. But on Tuesday against the Angels, the ninth inning move happened because Kemp felt numbness after he was hit by a pitch...
This is the second installment of my 2013 MLB Draft big board for the Dodgers. Normally, this list would be capped in the 5-8 range, but with a lack of clear-cut options and prospects in this draft, the pool is convoluted and a lot of players are generally in the same range, skill-wise.
There are some new additions, including a new No. 1. Now, some of these guys (particularly...
Fowler delivered for the Rockies on Saturday. It would figure that the Colorado Rockies would start the 10th inning with two outs before getting two runners on, when Dexter Fowler lined the first pitch he saw down the first base line, allowing Yorvit Torrealba to score from second base. The Rockies have had a tough week at the plate. Since Monday they have seemingly had runners on...
Matt Kemp strained his right hamstring on Wednesday night and the Los Angeles Dodgers made a quick decision to place the All-Star outfielder on the 15 day disabled list. The team called up catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Albuquerque.“It’s just a mild strain,” Kemp said. “It’s something that can be worse, so you prevent it now. You don’t want it to linger the...
All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez is almost ready to return for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ramirez started the final stage of his rehab from a hamstring injury on Friday night, when he played for the Class-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. MLB.com's Steven Lynch called the game 'uneventful but encouraging' for the 29-year-old, who did not record a hit but did walk during his...
The Los Angeles Dodgers may be facing yet another hamstring injury. Carl Crawford had to leave yesterday's game against the Colorado Rockies after experiencing an issue with his leg. The issue appeared to be some sort of hamstring injury, but the team will evaluate Crawford further before releasing a diagnosis.
As Dayn Perry of CBS Sports said, Dodgers' GM Ned Coletti...
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford has left Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies because of a left hamstring injury.
Crawford was injured legging out a double in the third inning. A trainer came out to second base and immediately escorted Crawford to the dugout. The Dodgers later described the injury as a cramp in the hamstring.
Crawford was replaced by Scott...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed slumping center fielder Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list because of a right hamstring strain.
The Dodgers recalled catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday to take Kemp's place on the roster.

Matt Kemp‘s disappointing 2013 season has taken another turn for the worst. During Tuesday nights game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Kemp was hit by a pitch on his right elbow. Although originally trying to tough it out, he was pulled from the game when he informed manager Don Mattingly that he couldn’t throw the ball due to numbness in his right hand.
Todd Helton can still swing it--every now and then. The Toby Keith song says it perfectly. "I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once, as I ever was."No truer words could be spoken about Todd Helton. The former slugger with Hall of Fame credentials has been a disappointment in what is assumed to be his capstone season. With a batting average hovering around...

Juan Nicasio has talent, but it is unrefined.Don't let the highs get too high and the lows get too low. That is a saying that most managers will utter to the press at least four times per season. For Walt Weiss and his Colorado Rockies, it was one of those nights. Unfortunately for those who cheer for the Rockies, it was a night when they had to remind themselves not to get too...
