Where's the D?
If defense wins you championships than offenses wins you NFL playoff divisional round games!

Are we seeing a new trend in the NFL?  Lately do you wanna build your team around a solid defense or a defensive minded coach?  The last 3 NFL postseason  teams have been racking up the points in a alarming fashion especially in the divisional round of the playoffs.  Dating back to the 2009 though out the playoffs NFL teams have been averaging around 23 points per game (ppg), Not including the Superbowl .  In the Divisional rounds of the playoff NFL teams are averaging a remarkable 27 ppg almost 5 points higher than the playoff average.  This year The Numbers are even more mind blowing with teams averaging 34.5 ppg 11 points higher than the playoff average ppg and a total of 276 total points scored the highest amount scored over the last 4 years by 44 points.  So, is Defense the answer any more in the new NFL?  According to the stats I would have to say yes that defense still wins you championships.  The NFL average of 23 ppg dips down to 21 ppg in conference championships games and in the last 4 years only 1 team has won by more than 7 points.  After reviewing the box scores in these championship games it appears that having a solid stable defense to keep the games close has paid huge dividends in winning.  Not convinced yet,  Just take a look at the last decade of Superbowl winners
