While the Miami Dolphins get ready to play versus Jacksonville in a matter of hours, Jeff Ireland has made a change to the current preseason roster.
As reported today by Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Dolphins have cut runningback and rookie free agent Cameron Marshall to possibly sign a free agent tackle.
The tackle position and it's flexibility has been somewhat of a question mark given the reports from training camp that Jonathan Martin needs to play better in order to show he can protect Ryan Tannehill's blindside. In addition, Dallas Thomas taken in round 2, did not show the versatility at the position the Dolphins thought they had in his last game versus Dallas of the preseason. Thomas allowed his man to beat up back quarterback Matt Moore.
With this latest development, Kelly mentions that the Dolphins will be signing a free agent tackle by this weekend. What is not clear, is if the potential free agent is from the pool of free agents ...

Not everyone was happy with Miami Dolphins rookie Dion Jordan's performance in Miami's 24-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game. Fortunately for the Dolphins, the majority of those unhappy are opposing quarterbacks and offensive tackles.
Without playing until the early parts of the...
Alright Dolphins fans and football fans everywhere, the NFL is officially back. Well, back in the sense that you can turn on the TV and you can find highlights and actual games (meaningless as they are) on television. BUT, preseason games can be a bit boring, can’t they? After all, with the exception of the 3rd preseason game, the starting units usually play a few series...
The Miami Dolphins had only 5 days to think about their poor performance in the Hall of Fame Game last Sunday. Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins were anxious to get back on the field and show that their sloppy performance last week, was simply due to it being early in the preseason. It didn’t help that the first practice after that game was perhaps the Dolphins (and Tannehill’s...
Yes,I know it’s only preseason. That, however, does not change the fact that the Miami Dolphins spent the third overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft on what they thought would be an impact, pass-rushing defensive end in Dion Jordan.
Through two preseason games, Jordan hasn’t shown to be anything close to that.
In fact, without watching the games, you’d have to look twice at...
CORAL GABLES, Fla. Eight weeks to the day University of Miami officials finished meeting with the NCAA's Committee on Infractions, athletic director Blake James said Friday he was hopeful the school would hear a verdict before the football season kicks off.
But he could not guarantee it.
"I don't 'expect' anything," James said at the Hurricanes' football...
QB Ryan Tannehill (Miami)
Ryan Tannehill gets two new weapons to work with in Mike Wallace and Dustin Keller. Wallace may be overrated, but he’ll give them an upgrade on the outside, as Keller will at tight end. They have serious issues at left tackle, which could cancel some of that out, but I do expect Tannehill to improve on last year’s numbers, even if only because he has...
When Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll intercepted a deflected pass in Friday's game at Jacksonville it represented a promising step in the team's development. Takeaways are a rarity for Miami.
And when the offense turned Carroll's interception into a touchdown well that was a giant leap forward. Touchdowns are also a rarity.
So too was the 58-yard field goal by rookie...
To the common eye it might have looked like the Jacksonville Jaguars were daring the Dolphins offense to go deep.
Play after play early on in Friday night's 27-3 preseason win over Jacksonville the Jaguars appeared to line up with a single-safety high look and had its cornerback close to the Dolphins' receivers.
For most offenses that kind of look might warrant a go-route...
BY NICK ST. DENISDustin Keller has one year to prove his worth with the Miami Dolphins. He's trying to earn it both in and out of action. The former New York Jets tight end, who opted for a single-season deal with the Dolphins to up his stock, has taken the field alongside maligned returner Michael Egnew and rookie Dion Sims, who are battling for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart...
Sorry for being so late. Hopefully we can still use it.
It’s not the time to rally the troops and prepare to leave a sinking ship. It was only a preseason game and the first one of the year, but the Dolphins are in a predicament of sorts. The team everyone is watching because of their huge offseason moves and draft class is under the gun, needing to play better in the second game of the preseason against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that...
