GREEN BAY, WI - DECEMBER 27: Donald Driver #80 of the Green Bay Packers smiles near the end of a game against the Seattle Seahawks as the Packers clinch a wild-card playoff spot in the NFL Playoffs at Lambeau Field on December 27, 2009 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We’re getting softer and less snarky in our older age. We like feel-good stories. So, on a blustery day in the Northeast, a warm-your-heart tale is just what the doctor ordered. Our thanks to Donald Driver. Driver, the lifelong Packers receiver who announced his retirement at the end of the season, is one of those guys who is consistently described as a class act. It’s hard to argue that assertion when you check out videos like this. It seems so easy to criticize athletes for not doing the little things for fans, but it’s not always as that easy a proposition. That’s why extra props are in order here. Here’s the quick and dirty. A local Green Bay Fox affiliate interviews Angie LeRoy, a 78 year-old cancer survivor and Packers nut. Her favorite player? Donald Driver. Her wish? Not even to attend his retirement party later that day, but just to meet him and give him a hug goodbye. Well, wish granted. Call us saps but something about this exchange is so genuine, that it’s just well…perfect. Helluva job, Mr. Driver. Our must-see video of the day.
