Draft Zone Spotlight: Justin Rosenbaum, K/P, Fort Valley State University Last year I watched FVSU a lot because of Punter Marquette King who is now on the Oakland Raiders. Well Marquette told me, if you want to watch a specialist that will be the next big thing, make sure I check out #14 on FVSU.  I did that this year, and let me tell you something, Justin Rosenbaum is for real folks. This kid could easily get a shot in the NFL. I hope he gets a chance because as a kicker myself, I have a love for specialists.  Good luck Justin and watch the videos, cause this boy is for real. How many teams were recruiting you coming out of high school and how did you make your decision? I actually never played football until I was 27. Has it always been your dream to be an NFL football player? I always wanted to do something that nobody in my family had accomplished and in my family that’s pretty difficult. It’s turned out to be something I really love. Who was your favorite NFL team growing up, and did you have a player you rooted for? Barry Sanders for sure. I was always a huge Lions fan growing up. At your position, how do you break down film, please inform our readers what you look for when breaking down film? After almost every kicking session, I look to see if I properly addressed what I intended on when I walked onto the field. Usually one adjustment requires another down the line so I try not to change too much..  Mostly balance, my plant foot, my drops, and body language.. What is the best accolade/award you have ever received from playing football? All American HBCU 1st team this year as a punter for sure. Now that your college football eligibility is up what’s your next move? Train hard, stay positive, and hope for an opportunity on a field somewhere in the NFL this summer. When did you really feel you had a good chance of making your dream come true? I  will feel that way if I am signed as a free agent, right now it’s still a personal goal. What is your favorite food? Steak for sure Do you have any pre game rituals? I keep a pic of my son in my right shoe. I kiss it and put in back in my shoe before every game. What would you tell NFL teams that are weary of taking a late round flyer on you? I’m realistic, there are a lot of great specialists that come out of college every year and this year is no different. I consider myself a free agent contract type of guy especially coming from a small school. I can say if I am given the opportunity with an organization I will make the best of my opportunity no matter how I get there.  I will not disappoint. Have you been invited to any all star games? All American Bowl at the Metrodome. If you could compare your play to someone in the NFL, who would it be?  Couldn’t really pick just one guy. What is the most tragic event in your life that has happened and how did you bounce back? The loss of 2 family members in this last year. I was just reminded that my time here is counting down every day so I wake up every day and try to keep getting better as a player and as a person so when they look down on me they will be proud. Who has had your back through the good and the bad as you’ve moved on balancing life as a student athlete? Marquette King (good friend),Jamie Kohl (kicking coach), Haskel Buff (special teams coach),and my whole family. What’s your plan if you go undrafted? I have no plans of being drafted. It would be a huge blessing but I know my best chance of joining an organization is via free agency or a camp invite. Any of the above would be huge. Everyone asks this question but I’m curious to know what will you buy first with your first NFL pay check? No preconceived notions of spending any money. Has never occurred to me.  All that is on my mind at this point is making it into a camp and proving that I am worth a teams investment. Finish this sentence for me, Come July 2013 I will be_______  Continuing to work hard and stay focused on getting better every day. Hopefully it’s in a camp somewhere in the NFL. You know I love my specialists so they get two videos, God Bless Justin.
