DRAFTING TAVON AUSTIN AT #4?

Posted April 15, 2013

THE boys at NFL Network don't seem to see us grabbing a QB in rounds 1, 2, or 3. In fact they mention the idea of us drafting a WR Tavon Austin.

NOBODY (NFL Network, mocks, nobody) sees us taking Chance Warmack (much to my chagrin), but they DO see us grabbing a lineman in the 2nd.

  • NFL network knows nothing in my opinion, they know just as much as anyone else. I mean Tavon Austin? who are they getting their info from. It can't be from anyone high up because if it was they'd give disinformation they any good reporter would be able to dissect. Which leads me to believe that it's probably from so low level guy say "oh yea him... yea we checked out Tavon. He's a great player." and then the media running with that.
  • I'd be cool with drafting Austin and trading Maclin.
  • I like the idea of trading Maclin, but a WR at 4 tells me that Lurie is firing Kelly after next season.
  • he could go at number 4 with the way his stock has been risinig. the only thing i wanna know is what we got in the trade and how far back we moved cause he aint coming here. i think we need another starting caliber WR, but not with austins skill set. we already have two maybe more of him. in kellys offense, and almost all NFL offenses today, you need three starting WR. damn near everyone is using it and kelly will two. darick rogers in the third hopefully 4th would give us the guy we need to complement maclin and deseans ability, while still allowing us to trade maclin if a contract cannot be met.
  • A curve ball out of nowhere has people flailing all over the place. Like I wrote a few weeks ago they had the Eagles drafting three different players in less than a minute. This whole idea of "but this guy at four" is kind of funny to me, because clearly in this draft there isn't ANY CERTAIN GUY AT FOUR. Personally I hate the idea drafting and trading a position in the same season. The only conclusion I can come up with for this draft is the Eagles are aggressively looking to trade down. Every player who has been linked with the Eagles can be had later in the first round. If they Eagles can sucker a team into wanting to move up they will do so. Of course the Eagles could also be considering a move to the top of the draft to ensure the get Luke. There have been reports the Chiefs are openly shopping the first pick in the draft. This draft just seems to lack high end talent.
  • I highly doubt they WILL, but I'm going to keep holding out hope for Chance Warmack.
