New coach Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles got their first win Thursday night, besting Cam Newton and Carolina 14-9 at home. The Eagles unveiled their no-huddle offense and racked up 401 yards but suffered 3 turnovers in the win. Welcome to the NFL, kid: Duck offensive line stalwart Kyle Long (75) shown here with teammate Jordan Mills, has a new home with the Chicago Bears (bearsbacker.com photo). Picked 20th in the draft, Long has a 4-year contract worth $8.3 million. Former Arizona quarterback Nick Foles started, taking Kelly's team from their own 5 to the Carolina 8 on their opening drive, but Foles threw an interception in the back of the end zone to kill it. On their next series the Eagles took advantage of a short field after a punt return, put together a 39-yard drive for a 7-0 lead, Foles scrambling in from the seven for the td. Michael Vick led the Eagles to their second score just before half, executing the no-huddle offense beautifully on a 74-yard scoring drive, LeSean McCoy plunging in from the one for a 14-6 lead at halftime. Vick was 9-10 passing for 105 yards, and appears to lead for the starting quarterback job. Dennis Dixon played in the fourth quarter for the Eagles, 3-3 passing for 20 yards, two runs for 16 yards. He moved the team into Carolina territory but the drive stalled when Dixon was sacked. He fumbled on the play but the Eagles recovered. The former Oregon qb faces an uphill battle to make the team. Matt Barkley played all of the third quarter last night and is getting reps ahead of him in practice. Barkley was 8-17 passing for 72 yards. Patrick Chung had 4 tackles on the Philadelphia defense. Jeff Maehl, Will Murphy and Casey Matthews did not accumulate any stats for the Eagles. Kenjon Barner was completely bottled up in the game, six carries for a paltry 5 yards for the Panthers. First round draft pick Kyle Long played with the number one offense in Chicago's 33-28 win over San Diego. The Bears had two first-quarter drives to take a 14-0 lead, with Long throwing a key block on a 58-yard run by Matt Forte.  Former Duck nose tackle Haloti Ngata had 1 tackle in Ravens 37-23 win over Atlanta.
