The Anaheim Ducks have signed two depth guys destined for the AHL in Zack Stortini and Nolan Yonkman. Stortini was chosen in the 3rd round, 94th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.  He made his first NHL appearance on January 20, 2007, against the Calgary Flames. Stortini was a -1 and received a 10 minute misconduct penalty [...]

Matt Beleskey re-signs with Ducks

The Ducks on Sunday re-signed left wing Matt Beleskey to a two-year contract extension worth 2.7 million, a hockey official familiar with the deal reported. Beleskey, 25, scored 13 points (eight goals) last season, spending minimal time on the first line with stars Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry while also participating as a physical presence willing to scrap with opponents. Beleskey...

There's a movie about Teemu Selanne and it looks amazing

I say "it looks amazing," because it's in Finnish and I can't understand anything being said in the trailer. The name of the film is SEL8NNE, which I'm sure translates the same in Finnish as it does in English: "fountain of youth/please never retire." It's set for release on September 27th in Finland, of course. Hey, look at that. Just...

Ducks sign RW Stortini and D Yonkman to deals

The Anaheim Ducks have signed right wing Zack Stortini and defenseman Nolan Yonkman to one-year contracts through the 2013-14 season. Stortini has played in 257 career NHL games with Edmonton (2006-11) and Nashville (2011-12), with 14 goals, 27 assists and 725 penalty minutes. He played last season in the AHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs, where he had two goals and four assists in...

Koivu and Beleskey Re-signed

Although the only major move that the Ducks have made in free agency is to trade Bobby Ryan to Ottawa, Anaheim is still getting their offseason work done.  First, the Ducks have signed center Saku Koivu to a one year contract extension, worth $2.5 million plus performance bonuses. Koivu, 38, has spent the past four years with the Ducks and last year he scored 8 goals and...

Steve Palumbo: Anaheim Ducks Re-Sign Saku Koivu; Derek Roy Next?

The Anaheim Ducks made waves yesterday by dealing away fan-favorite and prolific 30-goal scorer, Bobby Ryan, to the Ottawa Senators for two prospects and a pick. At first the deal was shocking. Who they heck saw the Sens coming in to snatch Ryan? Not this guy. But, when you dig deeper the deal works out great for both sides. Ottawa was reeling from the loss of long-time hero...

Mike Augello: Fraser To File For Salary Arbitration

TSN analyst Aaron Ward reports that restricted free agent Leafs defenseman Mark Fraser will file for salary arbitration early next week. Fraser was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in February 2012 for Dale Mitchell and was an integral part of the AHL Toronto Marlies run to the Calder Cup Final. The former New Jersey Devil draft pick signed a one year, two-way deal with Toronto...

Dan Sexton, Steven Seigo, Francis Paré Join Finland’s TPS by   Steven Ellis

TPS of the Finnish league have announced the signings of Dan Sexton, Steven Seigo and Francis Paré for the upcoming season. Sexton, an undrafted free agent, left college when he was signed by the Anaheim Ducks on April 7, 2009. After beginning the 2009–10 season in the minors with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL, he was called up to the Ducks and played his first NHL game [...]

So Long, Bobby Ryan.

Anaheim Ducks' winger Bobby Ryan was dealt to the Ottawa Senators on Friday for Jakob Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen, and a 2014 1st-round pick. Bobby was my second favorite Duck and second favorite hockey player behind Ryan Getzlaf, and I'm sad to see him go.Though I wish Bobby was still skating in Anaheim, at least the Ducks got a really nice package back from the Sens. Best of luck, Bobby.
