BOSTON – Quick, what will you be doing nine years from now? It’s a difficult question to answer, even for Dustin Pedroia, who just signed an eight-year contract extension with the Red Sox that will take him through the 2021 season. But while a lot can happen between now and then, Pedroia isn’t ruling out the possibility of playing beyond his age 38 season, despite the wear and tear that comes with such a hard-nosed style of play. “I don’t know that I’ll be done by then, man. I feel good, dude,” Pedroia said smiling. “I weigh 160 pounds, ya know. There’s not a lot of pounding. I’ll be fine. I don’t know. Maybe I haven’t hit my growth spurt, either. I might get taller and stronger, so I’ll be all right.” Pedroia – who’s generously listed at 5-foot-8 – probably isn’t going to undergo a growth spurt any time soon. That’s quite all right with the Red Sox, though, as the size of the second baseman’s heart can’t get much bigger than it already is. Have a question for Ricky Doyle?
