The Eagles have been highly protective of their home court all season. Boston College secured its eighth Conte Forum victory by outlasting Miami, 63-62, last night in Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball action. The Eagles improved to 11-7 (2-2 ACC) but they are an impressive 8-1 at The Heights. The Eagles’ only home loss was an 83-71 setback to Stanford, which was ranked No. 3 in the nation when the Cardinal came to Conte Forum on Nov. 9. BC shot 39.3 percent from the field and had four players score in double figures. Miami (10-7, 2-2) shot 37.5 percent from the field but were a dismal 3-of-19 from behind the 3-point line. Guard Nicole Boudreau led BC with 15, including three 3-pointers, while center Katie Zenevitch registered her 13th career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. “We have done an awesome job since losing that first one to a great Stanford team,” said Boudreau, a four-time Herald All-Scholastic from Andover. “We love playing in front of our home crowd and we are getting more and more fans,” she continued. “Defending our home court is big, so we have to play as hard as we can.” The victory served as a rehearsal for a matchup with ninth-ranked North Carolina on Sunday (1 p.m.) at Conte. The Eagles will be facing their third top-10 opponent in the last four games. BC suffered lopsided road losses at second-ranked Notre Dame and third-ranked Duke last week. BC coach Erik Johnson hopes the tough competition improves his team, especially against ACC foes. “We played North Carolina three times last year and we can’t wait to get them again,” said Johnson. “We took them down to the wire in the ACC tournament in Greensboro Coliseum and we could have won that game.” The second half opened to a frantic pace with eight lead changes and one tie before the teams took a break. Boudreau gave BC a 40-37 lead on a drive through the lane with 16:08 remaining. BC was up 46-42 on a pair of free throws by Boudreau with 11:44 on the board. The Eagles maintained a slim lead over the next seven minutes with adequate rebounding and two big 3-pointers by Boudreau. Two Zenevitch free throws put BC up 58-53 with 3:53 remaining.
