THIS week:

As long as no one gets hurt and there isn't a tie, I'll be happy with the outcome regardless of who actually wins.

That said, with the EAGLES being without a QB, and with the RAIDERS being so tough at home, and generally playing better against common opponents (Chargers, Foreskins, Broncos, and Chiefs), there is no sane way to give the edge to the EAGLES this week.

The pick: RAIDERS 28 - 13

I wonder if The Pigeon will play this week...

  • Raiders 23 Beagles 10
  • Raiders 20 Eagles7
  • Foles is starting baby! Eagles 24 Oakland 20. Foles will come in and play like the man!!! You watch! This town is too quick to give up on players.
  • Idk da raiders d is playing good. Its gonna be a tough game.
  • tossup
  • The one thing Hollywood got right in all of this mess is the pressure on Foles.

Foles no longer has the pressure of having to deal with possibly becoming the backup QB again this season. He can go out there and play and not worry about anything.

In addition to that, DeSean Jackson & Company who play harder for Vick will no longer "***** out" when playing for Foles. It doesn't take a genius to see specific players (DJAX) playing harder for Vick than they do for Foles.

W/ Vick sidelined quite possibly for the remainder of the season, I find it hard to believe DJax will quit on his team for the SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR! Cause we all know he did last season.
  • I don't think it's Vick they play harder for. At first I thought the same thing, but then when Matt Barkley came in I noticed the players had that "bounce" to their step, and it showed in that first drive.

After they got down there and Barkley fumbled, the body language was slumpish again like it generally was with Nick Foles (even when things were going well in Tampa).

My guess is there's something specifically about Foles that doesn't ignite that fire in guys. THIS is what I was talking about this summer with that QB contest nonsense. Not naming a guy let individual players form a preference, instead of shoving all the guys into a foxhole together. Could you imagine if you got to SELECT who shared your foxhole?!

  • Flip, if Jackson only plays hard when it suits him then it screams volumes about how unprofessional he is. If your in the NFL you should be playing all out all the time....no matter who is taking the snap from center.

  • As far as not playing all out, I have two words for you: Hakeem Nicks.
Two more: Rueben Randle (as it seems half of Eli's picks are a direct result of Randle not knowing his assignment or dogging a route).
  • Maybe so, but I have always thought of Jackson as the punk that he is, and would still choose Nicks or Randle over him any day of the week.
  • Djax can't be trusted on this team for crap. He is a bad person to have in the locker room. I want to know how Riley Cooper becomes a beast under Nick Foles but Djax disappears.

I'm pretty sure it's not Cooper suddenly learning how to play the game.
  • Completely disagree. One can argue the same thing happened to Foles when he went into the Denver & Giants game. The Team ignited under him. Foles has had 1 bad game.

Now if you simply take the games Foles played well in, go find Djax. Djax plays favorites. He is immature and not good for the team.

It's easy to see him Diving & trying for first downs when Vick is in the game but not when Foles is.
  • So what do you think might happen here?

Will the EAGLES move Jackson and stay with Foles/Barkley as the long term answer; or will they keep Jackson and go get a franchise QB?

I guess they could always let all 3 walk if neither QB is the long term answer and Jackson won't always ball out.
  • I personally can't wait until they move on from Jackson.

For whatever happens w/ Foles/Barkley. I hope the best. Both are young and they play the hardest position in the game. I would love to see them both develop into good QB's.

Then Do what you have to do..whatever that is.
  • And therein lies the problem. It's a "whatever that is" type of
situation. Roseman has no clue what he's doing with personnel and the fanbase no longer has Reid to dump
    their frustrations on.

Given the same carte blanche he had here, he somehow
took a 2-14 team and turned it into an 8-0 team
IN ONE OFFSEASON. By the same token, We still have what we had last
year. Most of it (as I predicted) still starting.

This roster (on both sides) is a mess, because no one in this organization
has any clue of what their doing. Take it from a RAIDERS fan, I've seen this
show before. The only upside here is that eventually Lurie can (and will)
fire Roseman. That wasn't possible in Oakland.
  • This season will play out like last year. No answers and left with more questions. I said if the Eagles look like they are going nowhere i have noproblem with Foles entering the picture. The Eagles are going nowhere so its time for Foles to get his last crack at it. Unfortunately, I think management is buying time . i said it two years ago and everyone laughed but its playing out exactly like I thought. the QB isnt here yet and they are stringing the fans along. It will be empty in that crap stadium soon enough.
  • The entire team plays harder for anyone but Vick. It was the same when dmac was here. When the starter is in the team takes a step back. Cooper can't even catch a ball for Vick. Same for ertz and celek. Avants even been off and on. Desean had two of his better games with foles. Only better game was vs the chargers.
  • why not. When Vick allows himself to get abused why would anyone want to intefere and put their rear end on the line. They are smart . he is dumb not to ask for help publicly. He should call out the game plan and the actors that pretend to play hard. i agree on Vick. With Mcnabb he had practically no talent around him with exception of Westbrook.
  • watch the tape. When Vick throws the ball Djax will dive, hit, scream, beat anyone he can.

When Foles is passing. If that ball isn't right on the dot, Djax throws his hands up and walks the other way.

Just because Foles is the better QB doesn't mean the guys are trying harder.
  • So I guess u missed desean mixing it up with revis then scoring a td right after?
  • That ball was spot on.. as i said before, you won't see Djax dive for ANY Ball thrown by Foles.

You also won't even see him catch a pass until after Riley Cooper starts to show him up. (which has happpened every game Foles has QB'd in)
  • Can hardly wait for this game!
  • I think its a close game. With Foles it should be competitive. Eagles 20 Raiders 14. revised.
  • Raiders 35-31. Hollywood I think you have me blocked dude.
  • I hardly think the RAIDERS have 35 points in them. If they get that many points on the board, it will be because the game isn't remotely close.

In all honestly I'd love to see a 24-21 score (either way). Now that Foles is the confirmed starter this week I think the game will be closer than the 28-13 score I originally predicted, and I even think the EAGLES stand a chance of winning it now.

Barkley looked pretty good out there for guy with no starting reps all year long, but the RAIDERS have a brawler's mentality and right now Barkley is too green to be tossed into that meat grinder and expect any good to come of it. Feeding him to the RAIDERS would be like teh game where they put Winston Justice at LT with no help against Osi Umenyiora. It could scar Barkley for life.

Foles on the other hand is more experienced and has some successes to balance out the failure, so I think he'd handle it better. I think his resume would handle it better as well. Like I said he's had some success at this level. When he leaves here after this year (since he's a bad fit) he'll find work pretty quick. If Barkley flops in his first start, he'll be looked off as just another 4th round QB.
  • my take, terrel pryor, will show eagles defense, what a real mobile qb can do in a spread offense, with correct weapons around him. The eagles will go out and get, that type of qb to run this offense system, chip Kelly is running. The raiders win 27-20 and pryor running for 90 yards and passing for 200 yards or better. Birdflipper--matt barkely, needs to run a true west coast offense, with running back behind him---he is to slow for spread system period--prepare him to fail, every sunday, relaese him or trade him--do not scare him,for next team.
  • I don't know Flip. I see a high scoring game because I think we will see a game filled with turnovers which will result in some easy scores. I think it will be a close and exciting game.
  • Well you were right about one thing: It was high scoring. However it was by no means a game.

The RAIDERS put up a 20 spot which is par for the course but I was definitely surprised to see how many points the EAGLES put up. It was a day when the EAGLES Offense did everything right on a day where the RAIDERS Secondary did everything wrong.

It was exciting for the first couple of TD's but then you could tell that it was going to get out of hand when after Cooper hauled in his second TD, the RAIDERS walked the FS back up into the box AGAIN, which meant one on one on the outside. By the half (28 - 13) I knew how this one would end (just not by how many points).
