Moving, in short…is a *****. Like, is there anything more torturous on the planet earth than moving? The boxing. The bubble wrap. The calling of the friends who desperately try and come up with excuses as to how they are busy. The truck rentals. The pod storage. The list goes on and on my friends. Now I lie in excruciating pain since my back went out moving, agonizing over the so called baseball players that did me oh so wrong this week and last. Yes, the season is winding down and my sanity is seriously in question. Losing out by 5 points in the semi-finals in a CBS two thousand dollar prize league because Josh Hamilton decided to pound too many Rockstars is just too much for a young man like me to endure. That sounded weird. I didn’t mean that sexually, although that is highly probable as well. The man loves energy drinks and those energy drinks led to my downfall and countless others around the world. Weep with me brothers and sisters as I weep for you. Do we feel sorry for these...

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers finally have sole possession of first place in the AL Central in their grasp, and Doug Fister apparently isn't ready to give it back. Fister, starting for the Tigers a night after they took a one-game lead over the Chicago White Sox, is pitching like a man on a mission. Through seven innings against the Kansas City Royals, he's allowed just...

Fister sets record for consecutive Ks

Detroit Tigers pitcher Doug Fister set the American League record for consecutive strikeouts by setting down nine straight Kansas City Royals batters.

Doug Fister: Unlikely Possessor of Record

As it happens, we were at Doug Fister‘s major-league debut. By “we” I mean myself, Dave Cameron, and some hundreds of USS Mariner and Lookout Landing readers. We weren’t there specifically for Fister; we were there for a blog event and a game, and Fister just happened to pitch in it. He pitched after Sean White, who pitched after Garrett Olson, who pitched after Chris Jakubauskas...

Detroit's Fister sets AL mark with 9 straight Ks

Tigers right-hander Doug Fister has struck out an American League-record nine batters in a row in Thursday's game against Kansas City. Fister struck out the last Royals hitter of the fourth inning, and his streak didn't end until Salvador Perez hit a routine grounder to the shortstop on a 1-2 pitch in the seventh - bringing out an audible groan from the Detroit crowd, which...

Detroit Tigers: Doug Fister sets American League strikeout record

The Detroit Tigers are on a bit of a roll right now, having taken the lead in the American League Central over the Chicago White Sox. On Thursday afternoon they continued their great run of late, with a 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals. But the big story was starting pitcher Doug Fister. Starting with the last Royals hitter in the fourth inning, Fister struck out an American League...

Doug Fister sets AL record with nine consecutive strike outs

There are pitching terms that baseball people use that to describe what pitchers need to be successful at the Major League level.  The more of each you have, the better off you’ll be.  Those qualities are velocity, command and movement on the baseball.  Velocity is just that – how much oomph you can put on the ball.  Command is your ability to pin-point your pitches in the...

Game 2012.157: Tigers at Twins

Detroit Tigers, 84-72, 1st place, 2 up, magic number 5. Well, that’s fun, after all this–that magic number thing. After a disappointing “outing” by Rick Porcello on Wednesday (in which he got Not Enough Outs), Doug Fister came through in a big way, with Way Too Many Strikeouts, to the tune of an American League record 9 strikeouts in a row. Or, to look at it another way,...
