Firing blanks at AAC

Neither team shot better than 35 percent in the first quarter, which ended with the Jazz up 20-17. The Mavericks did a commendable job on Deron Williams, holding him scoreless with only two assists. But Andrei Kirilenko had nine points aand the Mavericks were punchless on offense. Things must pick up in terms of pace if the Mavericks hope to get the Jazz winded after playing last night in Utah. --Eddie Sefko
