The National Hockey League has suspended Dallas Stars defenseman Marc Fistric three games for a hard hit on New York Islanders forward Nino Niederreiter last week.Niederreiter suffered a concussion when he was drilled by Fistric, who left his skates to deliver the hit.In his explanatory video, league disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said Niederreiter was in hitting position but contact was made illegal once Fistric opted to leave his feet.Fistric will forfeit $16,216.23 over the length of his suspension, which will force him to miss games Thursday in San Jose, Saturday in Los Angeles and Tuesday in New York. He's eligible to return Dec. 15 against the Islanders.The 25-year-old has zero points in 20 games this season but ranks fourth in the NHL with 86 hits.Niederreiter remains out indefinitely.
