PLAYERS: Erik Ainge
TEAMS: New York Jets
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Former New York Jets quarterback Erik Ainge has been arrested for driving under the influence after police spotted him allegedly swerving while driving on an interstate. A Knoxville police officer stopped Ainge at 1:13 a.m. Sunday. Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said in a statement that the 27-year-old Ainge failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, violating the implied consent law and a roadway lane violation. Ainge was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday. He started 37 games between 2004 and 2007 at Tennessee and was a fifth-round draft selection by the Jets in 2008. He retired after three seasons because of injuries to his throwing shoulder. He has spoken openly of his struggles with alcohol and drugs.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith reportedly looked out of breath towards the end of the team's training camp practice on Monday.

Turn On The Jets Film Room – Braylon Edwards & Clyde Gates

Turn On The Jets is back in the film room today to break down the tape on New York Jets wide receivers Braylon Edwards and Clyde Gates. Recently acquired (for the third time since 2009), Edwards has a good chance to walk into major reps because of how thin the team’s depth chart is. Gates was a role player last season who is off to a strong start in training camp, leading to some...

Jets, Milliner agree on 4-year deal

After a short holdout, Dee Milliner can focus on becoming the New York Jets' next shutdown cornerback. The former Alabama star, selected with the ninth overall pick in April, agreed to a four-year contract Sunday night after he missed the team's first three practices of training camp. He is expected to join the Jets at SUNY Cortland on Monday. It was uncertain if Milliner...

Rex Ryan says the media is making more of Idzik’s comments

I don’t think it is going too far to call the quarterback the most important position on the football field. Sure, there have been a handful of teams that found success with average players under center, but most typically, the best teams have the best QBs. So you would think that a team that has an unsettled QB situation has a big decision to make. Which is why New York Jets GM...

Jets suspend practice because of heavy rain

The New York Jets have suspended training camp practice because of severe storms. There was no immediate word Sunday if the team would resume practice later in the day. Shortly after the start of practice - scheduled to be the first in full pads - drenching rains and lightning swept through the area in Cortland, N.Y. The Jets suspended practice and fans were told to leave. The...

Rex Ryan doesn't see what all the hoopla is about over QB decision

For the New Yorks Jets, in one corner we have the much maligned starting QB Mark Sanchez. In the other, there's highly touted rookie Geno Smith. Fans are waiting with bated breath for decision to be made, and this time around, head coach Rex Ryan won't be the only person making the decision. New GM John Idzik previously said he'd like a role in that decision, and some...

Geno Smith looks out of shape according to report

Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network was present at Jets practice this weekend, paying particular interest to rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who is looking to replace Mark Sanchez as the Jets’ starting quarterback. For the most part, Baldinger was impressed with Smith’s work, with one glaring exception. “He looked good to me yesterday until he ran gassers at the end of practice...

Dee Milliner: I’m 100 percent back

With his contract negotiations and shoulder rehab in the rearview, New York Jets rookie cornerback Dee Milliner has his sights set on returning to the practice field as soon as he's medically cleared by the training staff.

Jets QB pick ultimately up to OC

Let’s end the rhetoric when it comes to who will have the biggest voice when it’s time to name the Jets starting quarterback for the 2013 season opener. It’s not going to be coach Rex Ryan or general manager John Idzik. It’s going to be offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Why? It’s his offense. Idzik on Saturday and Ryan yesterday have spent two days trying to convince...

How Jets' safety competition is shaping up

BY NICK ST. DENISDawan Landry was an instant starter the second the New York Jets signed the veteran safety and brother of former Jet LaRon Landry. The other safety job, however, was expected to be between Josh Bush, Antonio Allen and Jaiquawn Jarrett. That competition is now down to two.Jets coach Rex Ryan told reporters Monday that Bush is slotted as Landry's backup, leaving...

Rex Ryan: Media “Making A Mountain Out Of A Mole Hill” On QB Decision

The media would like to know who’s going to start at quarterback for the New York Jets, but Rex Ryan is in no hurry to name one. A day after Jets GM John Idzik proclaimed that he would have some say in who starts at quarterback for the Jets, Ryan got on the defensive, and accused the media of making much out of nothing.   “I think you guys are making a mountain out of a mole...

Cortland Through My Eyes: 7/28

Continuation in our series, following cornerback Eric Crocker's journey in training camp. 7/28, 6:13pm EST: Today was definitely different. From strapping on the shoulder pads at 10am...to having to rush off the field because of the thunder storms. We had a short delay before we got back after it, around 3:30pm.  I'm still trying new techniques that our coaches...
