Nashville Predators 1 @ Colorado Avalanche 3 FINAL SOG: NSH - 27, COL - 36 PP: NSH 0/3, COL 0/5 My Three Stars of the Game 1. PA Parenteau: 2 Goals 2. Paul Gaustad: 3. Steve Downie: Was able to get under the Predators’ skin and direct their attention onto him, rather than trying to put pucks past Varlamov. Scoring Summary 1-0 COL: PA Parenteau – McGinn and MacKinnon at 18:50 in the 1st 2-0 COL: Patrick Bordeleau – Guenin and Cliche at 7:54 in the 2nd 2-1 COL: Paul Gaustad – Fisher and Smith at 14:10 of the 2nd 3-1 COL: EN PA Parenteau (2) – Stastny and Mitchell at 18:48 in the 3rd Predators scratches:  #4 D Ryan Ellis and #9 F Filip Forsberg Predators starters: #24 W Eric Nystrom, #12 C Mike Fisher, #13 W Nick Spaling, #6 D Shea Weber, #59 D Roman Josi and #35 G Pekka Rinne Avalanche scratches: #2 D Nick Holden, #22 D Matt Hunwick and #92 W Gabriel Landeskog Avalanche starters: #11 W Jamie McGinn, #29 C Nathan MacKinnon, #15 PA Parenteau, #16 D Cory Sarich, #61 Andre Benoit and #1 G Semyon Varlamov Five Thoughts 1. At 9:21 in the second period, Colorado forward Steve Downie left his feet to lay a major hit that made head contact with Nashville defenseman Roman Josi. Following the hit, Josi’s teammates Gabriel Bourque and Shea Weber tag-teamed Downie in the corner, while the Swiss-native went to the locker room where he would stay the remainder of the game. The hit was dirty and should be looked at by the league for further discipline, especially if Josi’s upper body injury is serious. 2. Stick taps to Eric Nystrom, Gabriel Bourque and Shea Weber for defending their prized teammate Roman Josi after getting hit by Steve Downie. 3. It was clear the Predators were tired from the match the night before against the Blues. Some of the players’ strides after a forty-five second shift showed the exhaustion. 4. Scoring the first goal is going to be huge for Nashville this season. Having the early confidence and to know you’re in control is a great feeling, especially on the road to silence the opposing team’s crowd. 5. Pekka Rinne looked a lot better Friday, as opposed to Thursday night in St. Louis. A more composed Rinne made thirty-three saves and allowed only two goals.
