The South Carolina Gamecocks showed again why they are the two-time defending national champions in baseball. They wasted no time in striking first blood against the Oklahoma Sooners with a early three run inning that lead to a eventual 5-0 win for USC in the super regional series Saturday night.

A lot is owed, in many ways, to South Carolina ace Michael Roth for pitching yet-another gem of a game. The win is the 20th straight NCAA tournament game won by USC. Over the last three seasons, USC is 25-1 in NCAA play.

South Carolina (44-17) needs to defeat the Sooners (42-24) once more to reach its third consecutive College World Series.

Here some thoughts related to the game:

Key Moment
LB Dantzler's RBI double in the second inning that gave USC a 3-0 lead.

The Good
South Carolina knocked OU starter Jordan John out the game after two innings.

The Bad
The Gamecocks left five runners on base. Adam Matthews in the fourth spot in the batting order left three of those in place. Gotta produce.

The Ugly
The Gamecocks struck out eight times as a hitting unit. We know they can do better. Scary if they do, right?

How amazing is it that the Gamecocks are sitting where they are after a slow start this season?

The Sooners and Gamecocks play game two of the best-of-three Super Regional series Sunday at 7 p.m. The game will broadcast on ESPNU.

One more game Gamecocks, one more.
