Found August 24, 2013 on Eagles Faithful:
Week 3 of the preseason is here! Each passing week simply means that the regular season is just that much closer. This week’s task is set on the Jacksonville Jaguars. This will be the first of two away games to conclude the 2013 preseason. This preseason has looked quite promising for Eagles fans for the most part. We’ve seen some of Chip Kelly’s up-tempo offense. We’ve also seen the Eagles defense change from a 4-3 defense into a 3-4, although, there’s been several times where we wish we didn’t have to see the defense at all as it has given fans flashes of last year. However, this game will most likely be the last chance for some players who are trying to make the Eagles roster this upcoming season. And even though, this game is crucial for some players, it also carries some sense of ease as the spotlight won’t be on who will be the starting quarterback for the Eagles as Michael Vick has solved that question. The positions that will be looked at the closest in my opinion would be on the defensive side. The [secondary] defense is horrendous. Aside from defensive line, and for the most part linebacker, the cornerback and safety position has frightened some already this preseason, myself included. No matter how you put it, the battle for the final safety spot doesn’t look good whatsoever. Whether it’s Nate Allen, Earl Wolff, Kurt Coleman, or Kenny Phillips who’s highlight this offseason has been nursing injuries, the Safety position doesn’t look good. Arguably, Earl Wolff has looked the best out of all candidates. This game is crucial as the battle for that final safety spot runs out of time. In addition, the cornerback position hasn’t looked too promising either. Cary Williams when healthy could basically be an automatic starter on one side, but the thing is he’s missed a lot of practices this offseason due to injury. This game will be important for him to show how much of a factor he can be on the field. On the other hand, you have Brandon Boykin, who has looked great this offseason. He’s worked hard this offseason to improve his game, and to be honest, he has. Problem? He’s too small. The Eagles would much rather use him in the slot than the outside. That being said, who gets the final cornerback spot? This game will be very important in giving insight on to who it might be. On the other side of the football, we will finally see the offensive line complete! Jason Peters will make his return tonight , as rookie tackle, Lane Johnson will be protecting Michael Vick’s blindside. How will the healthy offensive line we have been waiting to see all season play together? I know, I know, the quarterback battle is over, but how will Vick perform after being named the starter? Vick feels better than ever, and his passion for football has supposedly return. I assume that Saturday’s game will dictate how that translates onto the playing field. Oh yeah, remember Jason Babin? He’s in Jacksonville now. That should be fun to watch. The post Gameday! Eagles @ Jaguars. appeared first on Eagles Faithful.

Preseason Week 3: Judging Michael Vick’s Performance

After two stellar preseason performances against New England and Carolina, Michael Vick came into Saturday night’s preseason game as the starting QB. Since winning the competition Vick has said all the right things, but it was time to step onto the field and prove to his coach that he made the right decision. At first glance, his performance left much to be desired, and Nick Foles’...

Michael Vick says he will be a threat in run game

Michael Vick will be the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback this season and vows that he will be a duel threat when it comes to game time. Vick has been working on getting in shape, training his legs in preparation to run. Vick, who just last month said he added four pounds of muscle to withstand more hits, said he would be doing 500-600 pushups and situps until he couldn...

Is Michael Vick the Guinea Pig For Chip Kelly’s Rookie Season?

Most people figured that Michael Vick would be the starting QB for the Philadelphia Eagles come opening day.  The reasoning and rationale may have varied from person to person, but the end result was the same. However, one person’s reasoning surfaced recently that I found interesting.  Former Dallas wide receiver Michael Irvin offered his take on why Kelly chose Vick over...

Mike Vick Blames Media For Making Him Changed The Way He Played the Game

A lot of this is just idle talk before the season starts, but this isn’t complicated. Michael Vick has to stay healthy, how he does it, well that is on him, but it isn’t the media fault. “I think you got to take on a certain mindset that you’re going play the game all out,” Vick said. “If you go into a football game not wanting to get hurt or trying not to get hurt, it...

Running man: Vick plans to be a dual threat

Michael Vick is ready to play the way that made him famous - and he's not worried about injuries that could come as a result. When asked how he'll withstand teams that decide to hit him like he's a running back when he's running the football Vick said the team has a plan. "That's 220 pounds you're staring at right here soaking wet" Vick joked. ...

Five things to know from Eagles-Jaguars

Michael Vick took off running way more than the Philadelphia Eagles would like Saturday night.` He also threw an interception while trying to get rid of the ball. It wasn't his best performance of the preseason. But it wasn't cause for alarm, either, coach Chip Kelly said following his team's 31-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. ''Hopefully we get that...

Michael Irvin: Michael Vick can’t be that stupid to want to keep running

We reported this week that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick plans on running a lot more this season and isn’t worried about getting injured. Former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin can’t believe how “stupid” Vick is. “It’s stupid,” Irvin said, via The Sporting News. “You cannot be this stupid. You cannot be this dumb. It’s impossible. Your [butt] has been hurt...

Irvin on Vick hits: 'You cannot be this stupid'

Never one to mince words during his playing days or his current time as an analyst, Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has a simple message for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. While at the NFL Network's launch party on Wednesday, Irvin was discussing Vick's inability to stay healthy and his lack of understanding of when to slide. "Somebody's got to say that...

Chip Kelly is in Real Good Shape for his First Season in the NFL

First year Philadelphia Eagles Head.Coach Chip Kelly found himself in an enviable position. He needed to pick who his starting quarterback was going to be and both of his options were playing well during the preseason.Prior to the third preseason game he went ahead and picked the veteran, Michael Vick. From the looks of the game against Jacksonville it was a pretty good choice. ...

Michael Irvin has critical words for Michael Vick: 'You cannot be this stupid'

Michael Irvin loves how Michael Vick plays thinks he has earned the starting job the Philadelphia Eagles just officially gave him and believes he is the best fit for the team right now. But Irvin does not understand how 11 years into his career Vick has not learned how to slide to protect himself. “It’s mind-boggling’’ Irvin the Hall of Fame receiver and a co-host for NFL...

My Favorite Eagle from the Past

After listening tothe sports announcement this week,  I heard Chip Kelly finally picked his starting quarterback.  Anyone know who he picked? I am just kidding.  We get the Michael Vick experience for at least one more year. In Chip we trust, so let’s just hope he made the right decision. Other than the quarterbackdebate, it has been a pretty quiet week on the Eagle’s front...

Michael Irvin passionately questions the intelligence of Mike Vick

Michael Irvin certainly has his interesting moments as a NFL Analyst/Commentator. What would you expect from someone who used to wear golden suits on a NFL sideline? The time Michael Irvin referred to Tim Tebow as literally God’s Son, was quite interesting. (I guess God doesn’t want his son to be an actual NFL quarterback now) Now Michael Irvin questions the intelligence of Mike...

Foles Must Go

Last week, Chip Kelly officially announced that Michael Vick will be the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles to start the 2013-14 season. This wasn’t exactly a surprise. Vick has had an excellent preseason and is the more experienced player, as well as the bigger locker room presence. Foles was, undoubtedly disappointed.  And of course, some people in the Philadelphia...

Fantasy Football: Most Underrated Player At Each Position

Fantasy Football is an American past time. Well not really, but it’s getting so popular that almost every fan across the country participates in some sort of Fantasy Football league. While your first and second round picks may end up being your best two players, it is usually the guys you draft in the 9th-16th rounds that separate your team from the rest. Everyone’s top two or...

Fantasy Football 2013: Quarterback Sleepers and Busts

Oh, quarterbacks, how I love thee. Tall, commanding, and strong armed. Everything I want to be. Of course famous and rich are pretty cool too, right? I am sure in some other life this is exactly who I am. But in this life I am the 5' 9" scrawny guy writing this fantasy quarterback sleeper and bust column and thankful for every bit of it. As I turn my frown upside down being...
