Let me get straight to the point: Oregon and Kansas State both lost on Saturday. Now, assuming the BCS isn’t as full of cow manure as many think it is, that means only one thing…Georgia has a shot at the BCS National Championship if they beat Georgia Tech next weekend and defeat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. It’s that simple. Of course, at this point, there is absolutely no guarantee that Notre Dame will remain the top team come season’s end—particularly with USC looming—but can you imagine the coincidence of seeing Georgia playing for their first National Championship in over 30-years against the same program they beat for it in 1980? Talk about your stars aligning in a wild and crazy way—with another talented freshman running tandem leading the way, no less. But, let’s not jump too far ahead. After a tumultuous weekend of Top 5 football, the Bulldogs found that sometimes it’s better to have a little bit of ‘luck’ on your side. The Georgia Bulldogs BCS National Championship hopes rose on Sunday evening as the latest BCS rankings lifted the Bulldogs from N0. 5 to No.3. Georgia (10-1) reached 10 wins for the eighth time in Mark Richt's dozen seasons as coach. Georgia Southern...
I can tell you this much for sure, coach Richt doesn’t give a flip what destiny his team controls, he’s only worried about Georgia Tech. Good man. No looking ahead, just take care of business against Georgia Tech and don’t take anything for granted.
ATHENS - Mark Richt talks about Georgia's win over Georgia Southern.
Notes on Georgia's last-minute drive before halftime, Marshall Morgan kicking and tackling, Chris Conley coming through again, Branden Smith on offense & more.
A win Saturday would mark the 20th time in school history that the Bulldogs have reached 10 wins in a season. Georgia last had back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2007-08.
Georgia has 34 plays of 30 yards or more this season, the third most in FBS. The Bulldogs had 23 all of last season. The only game that the Bulldogs did not have at least one such play was at South...
