Madison Bumgarner struck out eleven over seven innings as the San Francisco Giants won 10-1 over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday afternoon.
The Giants’ offense started early with a home run from Pablo Sandoval in the first inning. Sandoval is batting .315 with 5 home runs and 25 RBI on the season but needed to take a moment in the fifth inning after being hit in the wrist by a pitch from Paul Maholm. Manager Bruce Bochy said the x-ray showed he’d be fine, but he’s still a little concerned because of the area of injury and will check in on him tomorrow.
Two big four-run innings put the game away for the Giants, who had extra bases in eight of their 14 hits. Gregor Blanco had a career-high four RBI on Saturday, three from a pinch-hit double in the eighth. Blanco said he didn’t do any stretching or warmups in the cage before his RBI triple.
“Torres [asked me] ‘what’d you do?’ I said nothing. ‘Well, you better do that,’” Blanco said.
Bochy said Blanco will be in the lineup tomorrow. The ...

SAN FRANCISCO -- Madison Bumgarner struck out a season-high 11 over seven innings, Gregor Blanco entered in the fifth as a pinch hitter and drove in four runs, and the San Francisco Giants routed the Atlanta Braves 10-1 Saturday.
The left-handed Bumgarner baffled the Braves, getting them to chase his fastball up in the zone and bite on curveballs in the dirt. Bumgarner (4-1) gave...
Welp. Ryan Vogelsong still isn't right.
It was another one of those starts on Thursday against Atlanta. You know, the one where he seems kinda okay through a few innings and then Bochy leaves him in 3 hitters too long and by that time he's given up 5 or 6 runs, and then he gets chainsaw angry, but it's too late, and we can't come back that one night?

Hunter Pence is top-three is nearly every significant offensive statistical category for the San Francisco Giants this season, and it is not farfetched to start thinking about re-signing the 30-year-old.
Pence was a large part of the Giants’ 2012 World Series title, even though he hit just .210 with four RBI in last year’s postseason. His pregame speeches were legendary in themselves...
Pablo Sandoval splashed a home run into McCovey Cove, Brandon Belt and Marco Scutaro also connected to back Tim Lincecum, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Atlanta Braves 5-1 on Sunday to wrap up a strong homestand.
Lincecum (3-2) struck out seven in seven scoreless innings to end a three-start winless stretch in which he went 0-2. He also stopped a four-start skid against Atlanta...
The long ball and Tim Lincecum powered the Giants past the Braves Sunday afternoon to give San Francisco it’s third win in a row, and the series win.
Lincecum followed masterful outings from Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner with a gem of his own. The two time Cy Young Award winner had his best game of the young season, allowing zero runs and just two hits while striking out seven...
After a tough outing for starter Ryan Vogelsong Thursday night in which he surrendered six earned runs in a 6-3 loss to the Braves, the Giants look to respond behind their ace Matt Cain Friday night. Cain was brilliant in his last outing against the dodgers where he was able to hold them to one run in seven and a third innings notching his first win.
The Giants hope Cain can pick...
Melky Cabrera will receive his World Series ring this week when the San Francisco Giants make a two-game interleague stop in Toronto to face his Blue Jays.
San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday he intends to speak with Cabrera and thank him for his contributions to the reigning World Series champions. Cabrera was suspended for 50 games last Aug. 15 for a positive testosterone...
Friday night the Giants evened up the four game series at one game apiece against the Atlanta Braves, fueled by a vintage performance by Matt Cain. The final score of 8-2 is a wide margin this scrappy team isn’t used to but one they have come to appreciate.
The big righty was brilliant from the get go yielding just three hits and two runs over eight solid innings earning his second...
Matt Cain pitched eight strong innings and San Francisco beat Tim Hudson for the first time in seven years in the Giants' 8-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.
Cain (2-2) allowed three hits and added an RBI single during a six-run rally in the fourth inning.
Hudson (4-2) was cruising until the fourth when the Giants batted around and scored six runs. Marco Scutaro...

Matt Cain – Hot
After a rough outing in April, Giants ace Matt Cain has had a much better start to the month of May. In two starts so far, Cain is (2-0) with an ERA of 1.76. Batters are hitting only .151 and Cain has given up just three extra-base hits in 15.1 innings.
In April, Cain only made it past the sixth inning once, pitching seven innings against...
Some like to look at these early season match-ups between first place teams as potential playoff clashes later in the year. If that's the case, then the Atlanta Braves had best hope the San Francisco Giants go into a tailspin before October arrives.
In losing the four-game series to the defending World Champs, the Braves managed only four runs and 14 hits in the final three games, coming
