Gilbert Brown, an undrafted, athletic wing from Pittsburgh who Danny Ainge began recruiting even before the NBA lockout began, will attend the Boston Celtics’ training camp, Brown’s agent told A. Sherrod Blakely.Despite Brown’s college career that was mildly underwhelming from a production standpoint (he never averaged more than 11.3 points per game while in college), Ainge is reportedly enamored with Brown’s potential as a defensive standout who can make stand-alone triples. Brown, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing, shot 41.3 percent from behind the arc during his senior season, making 43 trifectas.Ainge is so smitten by Brown’s sleeper potential that he told Brown he could be the next Wesley Matthews, referring to the undrafted free agent who played his way into a $34 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.“He (Ainge) told me I could be the Wesley Matthews of this draft,” Brown told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Of all the teams I worked out for, Danny was the most excited to...

Celtics Invite Gilbert Brown to training camp

According to former CLNSradio guest A. Sherrod Blakely ofCSNNE.com, former Pitt Panther standout Gilbert Brown will be joining the Celtics for training camp. First let’s get this straight, we are talking about this Gilbert Brown, not this one. The former is a player who was known in college for his defensive ability and a 3pt [...]

Delonte West reportedly did not receive Danny Ainge phone call on opening night of free agency; guard interested in Lakers

On the first night of free agency, Danny Ainge was presumably busy calling a myriad of potential targets, looking to fill Boston’s roster as well as he could. According to SLAM, none of those calls went to Delonte West.Reportedly snubbed by Ainge on the first night of free agency, West is interested in joining the Los Angeles Lakers and has previously told SLAM he would love...

Anthony Parker is the newest target for the Celtics

Former Cleveland Cavalier and LeBron sidekick Anthony Parker is the latest free agent to have garnered some interest from the Celtics, according to the Boston Globe's Julian Benbow. Parker was rumored to be coming to Boston last season at the trade deadline before the Celtics decided to hand the Cavs Semih Erden and Luke Harangody in return for some water from Lake Erie. Parker...

Chris Paul still very much in Danny Ainge’s crosshairs

The Boston Celtics are still hot in pursuit of Chris Paul, according to a number of reports tonight from some of the world’s best (and most accurate) NBA reporters. The trade package being offered by Danny Ainge differs from report to report, but we should take the following takeaways from the latest news:The Celtics want Paul very badly. They are willing to surrender a whole...

Celtics and Hornets had agreed to trade for CP3

New York Post: How many believe a reporter fantasized the threesome involving the Celtics, Hornets and Pacers, whose $23 million in cap space make them a critically desirable partner? Well, according to one pretty piped-in informer, it was a done deal until CP3 Knixed it by refusing to sign an extension. If nothing else, if true, this tells us that Danny Ainge atleast tried to trade...

Your Move, Danny.

Fine, I’ll write about it. I will write about how ridiculous this “CP3” mega-rumor is. When word got out that Danny Ainge was open to trading Rajon Rondo in exchange for Chris Paul the fanbase of the Boston Celtics had plenty to be excited about. We all love Rondo and also agree that he is a detriment offensively. It remains to be seen with hands and arms too long for his...

Chris Paul a Celtic?

Amongst a shortened season and amidst a team whose “window is closing” are stories which are difficult to interpret. Swirling in these rumors is the possibility that Danny Ainge would trade for Chris Paul reported by ESPN, even if he would refuse to sign an extension. What are the risks and benefits of such a [...]

The Message

Rumors and speculation abound about where Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets is going to end up playing next season. It seems almost certain that he will not be in New Orleans. It seems his preference is New York, which is an impossibility this year. The front runners seem to be Golden State and the Los Angeles Clippers, and then of course the Lakers and Celtics are each entertaining...
