The White Sox earned their first three-game sweep at Kauffman Stadium since their championship season in 2005 beating Kansas City 4-3 in 12 innings on Conor Gillaspie’s solo home run. The ball bounced up over the wall and looked like it may have been ruled a double but no one disputed it as Gillaspie rounded the bases. “I don’t know exactly what happened on that but at least he scored” Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “I think it’s a homer probably an inside-the-park homer. That’s good. It’s good to be able to hang in there and win late.” The Sox won their final six games of the seven-game road trip with Addison Reed saving all six becoming the first reliever to save six straight games for a team since the Dodgers’ Eric Gagne in 2003. “We’ve had a rough go for most of the year” Ventura said. “This is a stretch we’ve played well and he’s had a lot to do with it. He’s going in pretty much every game. We’d have liked to have stayed away from him tonight but the way it’s going and you go extra innings and he said he was available. Not ideal but he got it done.” Reed stranded the tying run at second with no outs posting his 34th save. He said he doesn’t mind pitching every day even if it looks like his arm is about to fall off. “I felt like I pitched the last four or five games or whatever it was” Reed said. “But I felt like I had enough to get through another night and honestly right now (Friday) I’m going to come in and tell (Ventura) I’m ready again. I’ll be ready.” Rookie Jake Petricka got the win in his first major league appearance with his mother and father his wife and a good friend in the ballpark to see him. He entered in the 11th with two on and one out and induced a double play grounder from Billy Butler.
