Ryan Lochte has certainly managed to stay busy since he stepped out of the pool in the XXX Summer Olympics. Appearances on television shows, he's managed to make some headlines in a few gossip blogs, etc. He's also been doing some work with Gillette to make sure that America has swimming contenders for years to come. Lochte and Gillette have teamed up to donate $25,000 to Daytona Beach Speed Swimming -- the same swimming club at which Lochte began his swimming career. The donation is all a part of Gillette's global 'Get Started' campaign -- a campaign designed to help inspire young people to "get started" achieving their dreams and goals".
“I am excited to be partnering with Gillette on this important program,” said Lochte. “Daytona Beach Speed will always be a special organization for me. I am so proud to be able to give back to the organization that taught me how to swim in competitions. I want to encourage the young swimmers in their development to ensure they have the same chances that I had growing up.”
The Dayton Beach Speed Swimming Club plans on using the $25,000 donation to create a dry land training area so that swimmers can improve their cross-training skills.
“Gillette is linked to great starts for more than 800 million men around the world every day,” added Elliott Wilke, Brand Manager, Gillette. “It is great to see Ryan give back to the organization that gave him a great start in his career and we’re thrilled that he can visit with the young swimmers and be a part of this special event.”
Through the campaign, Gillette has partnered with 25 global ambassadors, including Lochte, to help people give back to their respective communities and organizations where they received their start in athletics. Other Gillette endorsers include tennis star Roger Federer, and track and field star Tyson Gay.
