Paul Goldschmidt looks right at home at Chavez Ravine. The Los Angeles Dodgers have to be pleased that he won't be there much longer.
Goldschmidt and the Arizona Diamondbacks go for the sweep Wednesday night when the last-place Dodgers try to avoid a season-worst seventh straight loss.
After going 4 for 5 with a two-run homer and three RBI in Monday's 9-2 victory, Goldschmidt drove in three more in Tuesday's 5-3 win, including a tie-breaking two-run homer in the ninth.
He's batting .457 (16 for 35) with four homers and 11 RBIs in his last nine games visiting the Dodgers (13-19).
"(Goldschmidt has) been great since I put him in the No. 3 spot - he's done an exceptional job," said manager Kirk Gibson, whose team has won 14 of 19 at Dodger Stadium and 14 of 17 overall in this NL West matchup.
Goldschmidt, though, is 1 for 14 with seven strikeouts - his most against any pitcher - versus Wednesday's scheduled starter Clayton Kershaw (3-2, 1.66 ERA).
Kershaw, the 2011 Cy Young Award winner, might have delivered his best performance of the season in Friday's 2-1 loss at San Francisco, throwing seven innings of one-run ball just five days after his father passed away.
"It was good to get back and have everything and commemorate his life," he said. "But it was good to get back to baseball, too."
Kershaw, though, would probably appreciate a bigger cushion to work with. His 2.03 run-support average is among the lowest in baseball.
Including a 3-0 road loss to Arizona on April 12 when the southpaw struck out nine in 7 1-3 innings. Los Angeles has been shut out in each of Kershaw's last three starts against Arizona.
The injury-plagued Dodgers need to end that trend after falling six games below .500 for the first time since Aug. 30, 2011.
Wade Miley (2-1, 3.06) will start for the Diamondbacks.
The left-hander, who went 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA in four starts against the Dodgers a year ago, is coming off two rocky starts. Miley walked a career-high seven in a 3-2, 10-inning win over Colorado on April 27, then yielded season highs of four runs and nine hits in Friday's 7-6 loss at San Diego.
"I felt all right, I just wasn't executing pitches," Miley told the Diamondbacks' official website. "I've got to watch some video tomorrow and go from there."
Matt Kemp, 3 for 6 with two homers off Miley, has hit safely in a season-high seven straight, but his lack of power (one home run) is a big concern.
Adrian Gonzalez is a .474 hitter (9 for 19) off Diamondbacks pitching in 2013, and utility man Nick Punto is hitting .545 (6 for 11), including his first home run on Tuesday night.
Arizona's Didi Gregorius, who had a career high-tying three hits on Tuesday, will try to extend his hitting streak to 11. The 23-year-old shortstop has committed just one error in 47 total chances since getting called up last month.
"He's really doing it all," Goldschmidt said.

Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz has a sprained right ulnar collateral ligament and will be shut down for two weeks but will not require surgery on his elbow.
"I think we dodged a bullet," Putz said Thursday. "It's not great, but it could have been a lot worse."
Putz left in the ninth inning of a game against the Dodgers on Tuesday after facing one batter....
Baseball is only a month old, and it’s already time to start submitting your ballots for the 2013 All-Star Game in New York City.
Below are two Hot Corner bloggers’ opinions on players they think should be in this year’s game.

Goldy was a long-shot to make the team in 2011, and the call up came as a big surprise...
Not only is Matt Kemp one of the best, most dynamic players in Major League Baseball, but it turns out he’s a pretty amazing human being, too.
During Sunday’s contest between the bitter California rival Dodgers and Giants, Los Angeles third base coach Tim Wallach noticed a young disabled Dodgers fan along the third base line among the sea of San Francisco supporters at AT&...
The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed right-handed pitcher J.J. Putz on the 15-day disabled list due to a strain of his right elbow. Taking his place on the active roster is Will Harris whom the club recalled from their Triple-A Reno minor league affiliate. Expect Putz to miss more than the standard two-plus weeks. For the interim look for Heath Bell to take over the closers role...
Matt Kemp became an Internet sensation after an impromptu gesture he made toward a cancer-stricken Dodgers fan attending a game at San Francisco's AT&T Park.
The Dodgers' Gold Glove center fielder was informed of the disabled fan's plight by third base coach Tim Wallach during a 4-3 loss to the Giants on Sunday. After the game, Kemp went to the other side of the...
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp did a wonderful thing for a dying boy in San Francisco on Monday.
On Monday, Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach informed Kemp that there was a young man in attendance at AT&T Park that is a huge Dodgers fan.
He also happens to list Kemp as his favorite player.
The horrible thing is that he is dying and that he cannot speak.
LOS ANGELES -- The Diamondbacks ran into another obstacle Tuesday, when they discovered that even when they convert a save situation, the news can be distressing.
Heath Bell got the final three outs after Paul Goldschmidts big home run in the Diamondbacks 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, but the D-backs appear to have lost closer J.J. Putz in the process,...
An autograph wasn't enough.
To boost the spirits of a sick fan during last week's Giants series in San Francisco, Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp rewarded the fan with not only an autographed baseball, but Kemp's game jersey and shoes.
See the heartwarming video below:
From a fantasy perspective I--like many guys out there--have always been a fan of Matt Kemp (sorry man, I'm an Astros and Rangers fan). However, after watching this clip of what he did during last weekend's Dodgers/Giants series Matt Kemp will forever be one of my favorite players.
In case you didn't feel like watching the video, it appears as if someone has told...

Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke is scheduled to make his first injury rehab start Friday night for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga at Lake Elsinore.
The team announced the news Thursday. Greinke had surgery last month to repair a broken left collarbone after he was hurt in a bench-clearing brawl with Carlos Quentin and the San Diego Padres.
The right-hander was expected to miss eight weeks...

Since I can barely keep up — meaning not in the least bit — with the current trendsetters in American pop music, I must admit that I have never heard of Tiffany Hwang, nor am I familiar with her nine-member, all-girl super-group, Girls’ Generation. While Girls’ Generation initially made its mark on the global pop charts from its home base of South Korea, Hwang was born and...

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the season with lofty expectations thanks to a high-priced and star-laden roster. The injury-plagued club, however, is last in the NL West and on the verge of its longest losing streak in nearly five years.
Los Angeles will try to avoid that dubious achievement when it faces another cellar dweller, the more frugal Miami Marlins, in Friday night'...
Patrick Corbin is among the best pitchers in the NL, a status Cole Hamels is trying to re-establish.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to win for the seventh straight time with Corbin on the mound Thursday night when they face Hamels and the visiting Philadelphia Phillies in the opener of this four-game set.
Corbin (4-0, 1.80 ERA) is among the league leaders in wins and ERA after...
