MINNEAPOLIS – With the Gophers trailing No. 20 Wisconsin 49-43 with just over five minutes remaining at Williams Arena, Minnesota buckled down, coming back to force overtime with a combination of clutch shooting and suffocating defense. The Golden Gophers continued their all-around effort in the extra session, pulling out a 58-53 win against their rivals.

Minnesota got a big overtime win over Wisconsin last night. The win for the Golden Gophers caused some major excitement from 61-year-old head coach Tubby Smith who broke out in a post-game dance in the locker room. This may be one the most awesome things that has occurred this season.

We didn’t expect this type of celebration from Gophers head coach Tubby Smith. Smith must really felt the win was big because he let his hair down some, and really got his jig on.

A late rally wasn’t enough for the UW men’s hockey team who fell 3-2 at the hands of No. 2 Minnesota Friday night at the Kohl Center.
It was the Badgers who drew first blood thanks to Nic Kerdiles who pounded home a loose puck at 14:32 of the first period, giving UW a 1-0 advantage.
