Found July 01, 2012 on Buffalo Wins:
This little ditty will be short and sweet because that's all the Sabres signing of John Scott is. It's not Parise, but it's something. John Scott's one-year, $600,000 contract with the Sabres was announced on the night of one of the more boring "Free Agent Frenzy" days in recent memory. The immediate reaction amongst most was "who the hell is this guy?" And for good reason. Scott was undrafted and has 5 points in 146 NHL games. So now you may be wondering why the hell the Sabres might sign him. Long story short, he beats the **** out of other players. We're talking 6'8" and 270 lbs. of destruction. Cool, right? I'm not going to make this more or less than it is. The Sabres saw other teams around them get tougher (most notably Montreal) and saw a need for someone other than McCormick to knock guys around. And, being the Jolly Green Giant's stunt double will help Scott do just that. Now, let's imagine it's ne...

Sabres Sign John Scott

BUFFALO, N.Y. (June 19, 2012)—- Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced that the team has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward John Scott on a one-year contract. “John’s size and toughness make him a difficult player to battle against,” Regier said. “His physical play will be a valuable addition to our team.”

Milan Lucic still 'impacting' the Buffalo Sabres

Hey, hey, hey!Remember that time when Milan Lucic ran through Ryan Miller and everyone shat themselves 'cause apparently hitting in hockey is a foreign concept? And then Miller called Lucic a "piece of ****" and Buffalo pretended Miller had a concussion and then when Looch threatened Shanahan to reveal the blackmail photos he has on Shanny doing naughty things with...

All Brad Boyes

from Doug Harrison of CBC, Do you think you can sign with a team Sunday? BB: I’m hoping, too, but it’s tough because you don’t have a lot of information [on the direction of teams] before that day. If not, [my agent Pat Brisson and I] will look at the next day. When negotiating on your behalf, will your agent Pat Brisson speak to this past season...

Dallas gets Roy in trade with Sabres

The Dallas Stars acquired center Derek Roy from the Buffalo Sabres on Monday in a trade that sent forward Steve Ott and defenseman Adam Pardy to Buffalo. Roy, 29, had 17 goals and 27 assists in 80 games for Buffalo in 2011-12. "Derek Roy is a legitimate top two line center, and has been productive throughout his career," Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said in...

Stars Acquire Derek Roy; Sabres Get Steve Ott

In the final year of a six-year contract, Roy will make $5.5 million with a salary cap hit of $4 million. — Mike Heika (@MikeHeika) July 2, 2012   … VERY interesting trade here. I really like this deal for both sides.

Sabres land Ott, Pardy in trade

Ott had 11 goals and 28 assists in 74 games with the Stars last season. The 25th overall pick in the 2000 entry draft, Ott has 85 goals and 135 assists in 566 career games. Pardy spent...

Sabres general manager Darcy Regier announced the trade Monday. Ott had 11 goals and 28 assists in 74 games with the Stars last season. The 25th overall pick in the 2000 entry draft, Ott has 85 goals and 135 assists in 566 career...

Q&A On Newest Dallas Star Derek Roy

1) What are the strengths and weakness in Roy? Is he more suited as a number 1 or 2 center? Roy is a #2 center. Period. Don't let anyone else tell you other wise. Roy is a gifted playmaker. He can See the ice well and can rack up impressive point totals. Problem is he tended to tune out the coach and tries too hard to do everything himself. He can be a lazy turnover machine...

Sabres get tougher with Ott

The Buffalo Sabres mission to get tougher took another step forward this evening when they acquired Adam Pardy and Steve Ott from the Dallas Stars for Derek Roy. After opening free agency with John Scott, Darcy Regier made a major decision in parting with Derek Roy, part of the post-Drury core. Not only does Roy’s departure rid the Sabres of one of their undersized forwards...

Buffalo Not Done Chasing Bobby Ryan Just Yet

photo by Getty Images It’s been one of the most talked about rumors in the NHL over the last week and a half  – the Buffalo Sabres are trying to acquire Bobby Ryan from the Anaheim Ducks. But when the team announced that they traded Derek Roy to the Dallas Stars for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy, most assumed that the chances of that deal happening were slim to none. However, that...

Sabres Continue Makeover By Adding Ott, Pardy

After eight years, Derek Roy is done in Buffalo photo by Getty Images It was getting awfully boring. While the world was waiting and praying for a decision from Zach Parise on yet another uneventful day in the world of NHL free agency, the Sabres and Dallas Stars decided to shake things up. Buffalo sent oft-scrutinized center Derek Roy packing to “Big D” in exchange for gritty...

Steve Ott, John Scott Have Sabres Loaded for Bear As Rivalry with Bruins Could Reach New Heights

Last season, the Buffalo Sabres had no answer when Bruins forward Milan Lucic bowled over Sabres netminder Ryan Miller at the Garden on Nov. 12. The Sabres were roundly condemned throughout the hockey world for their lack of response in defense of their goalie, who was sidelined for several weeks while the team fell into a lengthy tailspin that kept them out of a playoff spot. On...

Kevin Freiheit: Pardy in Buffalo - Roy Gone

Derek Roy has played in his last game as a member of the Sabres. The Dallas Stars have traded Steve Ott and Adam Pardy for Derek Roy. Ott will be 30 by the start of the season and was a former 1st round (25th overall) pick by Dallas. Ott made his NHL debut in 2002 and has hit at least 11 goals in each of the past five seasons, with 19 and 22 being his highest. Ott has also...

GARTH: Roy's Got Spurs

The Buffalo Sabres are Ott to trot. I told you last week that I caught a serious whiff of Derek Roy to Dallas for Steve Ott rumours. Today, the deal came to fruition. Dallas GM, Joe Niewenedyk, needs a play maker to get the biscuit to Jamie Benn, Loui Ericksson, and the newly acquired ray Whitney.

Trading For Ott

from Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News, My first thought after the trade was completed Monday evening wasn’t about who was leaving but who was coming. Derek Roy’s Buffalo career was finished after last season, the minute he had the audacity to mouth off about Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. Speaking against the organization in any way, shape or form is grounds for dismissal. Darcy...
