NASCAR usually allows teams three practices during a race weekend in preparation for the race. With the introduction of the new Gen-6 car this season, NASCAR decided to allow all teams some extra track time to figure out the new car. So far the Gen-6 car has had mixed reviews. The car looks great and takes NASCAR back to its roots of stock car racing, but drivers have found it hard to pass other cars in the race. This has led to some boring racing. This week should be different. With the extra practice time, teams will be able to figure out more about the car, which should make the racing better. It is still very early in the season, so no one really knows how the car will perform throughout the season. NASCAR would not have introduced the Gen-6 car if they did not believe it would not make the racing better. The teams were allowed two practices today that lasted three hours each. Matt Kenseth was fastest in the first practice with a speed of 187.396. Greg Biffle led the second practice with a speed of 189.427. The speeds should continue to increase as the crew chiefs figure out the cars. Here are the final practice speeds from today’s second practice: 1 Greg Biffle 189.427 2 Jimmie Johnson 189.142 3 Mark Martin 189.142 4 Carl Edwards 189.102 5 Kevin Harvick 189.049 6 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 188.798 7 Martin Truex Jr. 188.646 8 Kurt Busch 188.646 9 Aric Almirola 188.567 10 Juan Pablo 188.422 11 Clint Bowyer 188.062 12 Jeff Burton 187.806 13 Austin Dillon 187.585 14 Trevor Bayne 187.533 15 Joey Logano 187.207 16 Marcos Ambrose 187.169 17 Paul Menard 186.935 18 Casey Mears 186.819 19 Danica Patrick 186.806 20 Kyle Busch 186.143 21 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 186.085 22 David Ragan 185.408 23 Kasey Kahne 185.306 24 Scott Speed 185.058 25 Denny Hamlin 184.875 26 Tony Stewart 184.811 27 Brad Keselowski 184.710 28 Matt Kenseth 184.615 29 Mike Bliss 184.332 30 Jamie McMurray 184.313 31 Jeff Gordon 184.269 32 Travis Kvapil 184.049 33 Landon Cassill 183.899 34 Josh Wise 183.849 35 David Stremme 183.705 36 Ken Schrader 183.567 37 Dave Blaney 183.561 38 David Reutimann 183.219 39 Ryan Newman 183.076 40 Joe Nemechek 183.057 41 David Gilliland 182.365 42 Bobby Labonte 182.143 43 Michael McDowell 180.699 – Chad Robb The post Greg Biffle Fastest in Final Test at Las Vegas appeared first on Race Review Online.
