NASCAR usually allows teams three practices during a race weekend in preparation for the race. With the introduction of the new Gen-6 car this season, NASCAR decided to allow all teams some extra track time to figure out the new car.
So far the Gen-6 car has had mixed reviews. The car looks great and takes NASCAR back to its roots of stock car racing, but drivers have found it hard to pass other cars in the race. This has led to some boring racing.
This week should be different. With the extra practice time, teams will be able to figure out more about the car, which should make the racing better. It is still very early in the season, so no one really knows how the car will perform throughout the season. NASCAR would not have introduced the Gen-6 car if they did not believe it would not make the racing better.
