A week after falling victim to the Miami Heat's position against the NBA's onerous luxury tax swingman Mike Miller has agreed to terms with the Memphis Grizzlies an NBA source confirmed Wednesday to the Sun Sentinel. Waived July 16 under the NBA's amnesty-release program Miller's 2013-14 and 2014-15 salaries will continue to be paid by the Heat but he no longer will count against the team's salary cap or luxury tax. As part of the NBA's offset program with Miller signing with the Grizzlies the Heat will now save about $300000 off the $6.2 million 2013-14 salary they owe the 33-year-old 3-point specialist. Miller played for the Grizzlies from 2003 through 2008 the most productive stretch of his career although he did appear in the NBA Finals during each of his three seasons with the Heat winning NBA championships each of the past two seasons. With the Grizzlies in the Western Conference Memphis will make only one appearance this coming season at AmericanAirlines Arena when Miller likely will be presented his 2013 NBA championship ring. Miller is the lone player to depart from the Heat's 15-man championship roster with veteran power forward Juwan Howard a free agent. By amnesty-release rule Miller is ineligible to return to the Heat by trade or any other means before the 2015 offseason when his amnestied Heat contract otherwise would have expired.
