Even though Chris put up his final thoughts on last night’s game, we had Glen Miller write up another recap because he does a great job with them. Glen has been a great help, and it’s only fair that we point out his current project: Fan Junkies. Fan Junkies is a social networking site like Facebook but for sports fans. Teams have their own group pages that can be sponsored by individual team blogs. Make sure to follow Glen on Twitter here. Cue the Charles Dickens. This was the tale of two cities; or basically this game….. If you watched the contest and were a Ranger fan you might have been ready to submit to defeat half way through. Fortunately this club doesn’t give up quite so easy. Instead of a detailed play-by-play as I’ve done before I’m going to give my impressions of the game last night. The Rangers were called for five straight penalties and I wasn’t happy. Two of those were border-line calls in my opinion. Regardless they killed each of the PP opportunities against a night...

Boyle on the rise – playoff key?

In his first two seasons in New York Brian Boyle seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the season, at least offensively. This year he’s getting better as the Rangers approach the regular season finish line; as 3 goals in 4 games and an increased physical presence would suggest. Boyle is looking more physically engaged, is a reliable faceoff performer and all of a sudden...

Rangers return Tim Erixon to Connecticut

The Rangers have returned defenseman Tim Erixon to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL. Erixon was initially called up two weeks ago to serve as another option for the Rangers to look at on defense. In his five game call up, Erixon earned his first two points as a NHL player, both assists, a -2 rating, and six hits. Erixon averaged roughly ten minutes of ice time while playing on the...

New York Rangers Eye The Prize

New York Rangers’ coach, John Tortorella, has reiterated that he has no interest in the daily on-goings within the Eastern Conference playoff race, and has been prudent in stressing to the media, and, more importantly, to his players, that the Rangers are only concerning themselves with their tasks at hand. As a writer I am [...]

Just When things Were Going Great for Richards, Olivia Munn Had to Do This

WENN.com reports that Brad Richards former girlfriend Olivia Munn is now dating new Robocop star Joel Kinnaman.Munn broke up with Richards back in January, which seemed to coincide with a prolonged slump for the Rangers center....just when things were going great for Richards, she had to go and do this. Rangers Must "Bottle" Commitment from Wednesday's Win

In the early stages of Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets, the New York Rangers resembled the hockey club that struggled its way through the month of March with inconsistent play and many flaws to their game. In the second half of the tilt, however, the Rangers showed signs of the team that won seven straight back in November into December to take the League by surprise...

Pregame: Rangers Host Habs with Hopes of Extending Lead in East

The month of March didn't exactly go as well as the New York Rangers had hoped heading in. They knew a busy schedule with tough opponents was awaiting them, so it was no surprise to see them struggle at times along the way. But in this final week of the month, in which the Rangers have played four games in seven nights, things couldn't be going any better. They topped the...

The Chemistry We've All Been Waiting For

It may have taken six months, but the Brad Richards/Marian Gaborik combination has finally become what we all hoped this past offseason.Richards looks like the playmaking center the Rangers thought they were getting when they signed him to a nine-year deal, while Gaborik has rediscovered the magic from two years ago.So why is it clicking now? I guess sometimes it just takes time...

Late Fedotenko goal gives Rangers 3-2 win at Wild

The New York Rangers had just about everything go right. Their primary Eastern Conference competitor actually lost a game, and their opponent on the ice gave them an easy path to the go-ahead goal. The Rangers, naturally, were more concerned about their own performance. Ruslan Fedotenko scored with 6:23 left to lead the Rangers past the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Tuesday to create some...

Jan Levine: Game 76: NYR 3 MIN 2, Homecoming Sweet for Several Rangers, @WPG Tonight

Sometimes homecomings work out better than expected. Yesterday, that proved true for a pair of Rangers. Ryan McDonagh notched a pair of assists while playing his usually steady game and Marian Gaborik showed his stellar hands and goal-scoring ability in lighting the lamp to help the Rangers (48-21-7) to hard-fought 3-2 win over the Wild on Tuesday. The win took on even greater importance...

Recap: Rangers v. Wild

On a night where the lowly Islanders of all teams were able to stop the freight train that is the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Rangers gutted out a much needed win in Minnesota, 3-2 over the Wild, to extend their Eastern Conference lead to 3 points with 6 to play.  Brian Boyle had a big game for the Rangers, scoring a goal, winning key face-offs and playing a solid physical game. ...

Rangers Fighting for Presidents’ Trophy

(Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images) By Christopher Decker (@HockeyGuy_Chris) Those are words most New York Rangers fans would have never even fathomed to be true, even as recent as last year. But the Rangers find themselves right there in the thick of a crazy rat race to take home the trophy that will assure them home ice advantage throughout the entire playoffs if, of course...

Wacky Wednesday

Just when you think you've seen everything involving the New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects then something comes along that just leaves you going "Huh?" Wednesday was one of those nights where things were wacky as well as wild but one thing for sure, it sure was entertaining. Guess we have to start with no pun intended an epic meltdown by the Kootenay...

Postgame: Rangers Earn 50th Win of Season in Dominate Performance Over Habs

The night began with a special inspirational speech from Steven McDonald prior to the annual Extra Effort Award being given to the well-deserved Ryan Callahan. McDonald’s speech concluded with the phrase “see you in June,” which nearly rocked the roof off Madison Square Garden. Well, sixty minutes later, the Rangers proved why so many expect to see them in June in their 4-1...
