The June 27th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Dipoto talks trade deadline plan, Mike Trout's Hall of Fame future and much more... The Story: Jerry Dipoto commented on  the Angels' trade deadline status, a Mike Trout extension and Josh Hamilton. The Monkey Says: The one quote of, "We are not a buyer. We are not a seller. We're the Angels." is getting a lot of play, but it is all part of the JeDi speak in which Jerry says something that sounds meaningful but really isn't. All he is doing is not raising the white flag in late June but leaving himself an out for later if/when they do sell. This is just how Dipoto works. The Story: Is Mike Trout on his way to the Hall of Fame? The Monkey Says: This is kind of a stupid question given that he doesn't even have two full seasons under his belt. There is a long list of guys who started their careers looking great and flamed out in a hurry for a variety of reasons, so let's not get out in front of ourselves here. The Story: C.J. Cron was selected to play for the USA in the upcoming Futures Game. The Monkey Says: It is a nice honor for Cron, even if he might have only made the team because the league makes sure every franchise has a representative on the roster. The Story: Tommy Hanson was a last minute scratch from last night's game due to forearm stiffness. The Monkey Says: And he was LITERALLY a last minute scratch. This is a situation worth monitoring seeing how Hanson pitched so poorly in his previous start and dealt with tightness in his arm back in training camp. The Story: The oddity of the Angels scoring 14 runs against Detroit without a single home run. The Monkey Says: Well, six errors helps. The thing though is that the Halos have done similar things before this season. As good as this offense was supposed to be, the one area they have really been lacking in is power and that is going to continue until Pujols and Hamilton step it up. The Story: Hollywood endings for each MLB team. The Monkey Says: OK, that one was a little far out, even for me. The Story: Will the real Jered Weaver please stand up? The Monkey Says: His command is off right now and I am convinced (mostly through just talking myself into it) that he made mechanical adjustments to lower his arm slot and he is now just working through that change to try and get consistent with his release and find his command. The Story: Mike Butcher believes Jered Weaver's problem is a lack of flexibility. The Monkey Says: Or it could be that. But what does Butcher know? He's just a big league pitching coach and I'm an unpaid blogger. Who do you trust more? [follow]
