Denny Hamlin blistered the field in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday for Sunday’s Crown Royal Presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at The Brickyard Powered by Big Machine Records. His pole-winning lap time of 29.244 seconds was more than 0.2 seconds faster than the second fastest driver, Carl Edwards, who qualified second with a lap time of 49.455 seconds. “I think our car was good,” Hamlin said. “The only disadvantage we had was that the sun was out, at least on the frontstretch, from what I could see. When you do that, it’s more about just hitting your marks.” Starting in the second row on Sunday will be Joey Logano and Aric Almirola. “It’s really tricky around here,” Logano said. “I felt like we had a decent lap in our Dollar General Camry. The car wasn’t quite perfect, but we’ve been working on the thing really hard. We didn’t unload very good.” Almirola went out 11th of 46 cars in Saturday’s qualifying session and claimed the provisio
