Found September 12, 2012 on Nittany Lions Den:
One of the best running backs to wear a Penn State uniform, Ki-Jana Carter, celebrates a birthday today. Carter has his name on a few Penn State records, including the most 100-yard rushing games in a season (nine, 1994), rushing touchdowns in a half (four, vs. Michigan State in 1994), rushing yards by a junior (1,539, 1994) and career rushing average (7.2 ypa). Carter's junior year remains the third best single-season rushing performance by a Nittany Lions tailback in program history, eclipsed only by Larry Johnson's 2,087 yards in 2002 and Lydell Mitchell's 1,567 yards in 1971. If only Carter had been used late in a number of those 1994 games that were decided early enough to use some other players, Carter would be guaranteed to be at least second on the single season rushing list for Penn State today. One of the highlights of Carter's career is unquestionably his first rushing attempt, and Penn State's first offensive play, in the 1995 Rose Bowl. You know wh...

Alumni-based Penn State group blasts Freeh report

A group of alumni and others with ties to Penn State is finding a lot to criticize in the Freeh report that detailed the university's response to allegations that an assistant coach was behaving inappropriately with children. Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship says its review of the report turned up ''failures'' involving lack of disclosure, witnesses who...

Gay North Dakota Football Player Jamie Kuntz Is Rather Normal – Hates Romney & Michigan Football, Says Penn State Is “Poopy”

And here we figured gay North Dakota footballer Jaime Kuntz would use his Twitter account to give us the gay plague. Nope, the guy seems pretty damn normal. He likes pumpkin lattes, thinks Peyton Manning has a big head and he just wants to play DI college football. Shockingly, we didn’t even feel the least bit gay after reading Jamie’s timeline @Jamie_Kuntz. Sure, there’s...

A new idea for a Penn State White Out

I want you to read this with an open mind, if you will. I ask this because I am fully aware of the fact that for many Penn State fans any change to the way the game day atmosphere can be seen as a negative, but this is clearly a new era that will open up new ideas for a program that needs to move forward. This weekend the San Diego Chargers will hold their own version of the White...

Q&A: Valuing sexual abuse claims not simple

Penn State already faces four lawsuits over the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal, and at least 20 people with potential claims have already surfaced. It's unclear how many will press claims against Penn State or whether more will surface. After Sandusky's conviction on 45 child sexual abuse counts in June, the university signaled it hoped to settle with the victims...

PSU pair ask to be tried separately

Two former Penn State administrators facing charges related to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal are seeking to be tried separately. Defense lawyers asked a Dauphin County judge on Monday to split the criminal cases against former athletic director Tim Curley and retired vice president Gary Schultz. Curley and Schultz are charged with failing to report suspected child...

Victims: Penn St. slow on settlements

Nearly three months after Penn State said it wanted to settle ''privately, expeditiously and fairly'' with the boys Jerry Sandusky sexually abused, lawyers for the victims from his criminal case and other potential claimants say the school has not followed up with concrete action. The attorneys told The Associated Press in recent days that had very limited contact...

Head-to-head: Navy vs. Penn State

Navy travels to Penn State for the first time since 1974 when they beat the Nittany Lions, 7-6. The Mids enter the game after getting trounced by Notre Dame 50-10 in Dublin, Ireland. Last week the Nittany Lions missed four field goals including a last second attempt in a 17-16 loss at Virginia. Penn State enters the game 0-2. Navy's all-time record against Penn State is 17-18-2.

Lions face multiple challenges this week

After one of the toughest losses it has experienced in many years, the Penn State football team turns its attention to Navy with some significant challenges to face. The Nittany Lions (0-2) host Navy (0-1) 3:30 Saturday and need a win as badly as any team, school or fan base ever needed one. The good thing is that Navy doesn’t appear to be as good as either Ohio or Virginia...

Penn St. coach backs embattled kicker

Kicking woes underscore a larger problem for Penn State. Coach Bill O'Brien's offense will need to improve in the red zone if the Nittany Lions plan on making any splash in the Big Ten. It's getting tough enough after an 0-2 start in nonconference play. After forcing four turnovers inside Virginia territory in a 17-16 loss last week to the Cavaliers, resilient Penn...
