When coach San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh kept quarterback Alex Smith on the bench and replaced him with the hot hand of Colin Kaepernick he bound himself and the young quarterback together in an uncertain future, but one he obviously hoped would be the brighter. Come Sunday at Candlestick Park we will know if that was the better decision or not. Kaepernick hasn’t faced this kind of pressure and last season’s divisional playoff performance by Alex Smith against the Saints is a tough act to follow. If Kaepernick is ineffective and the offense stalls then the Packers are going to win hands down. If that happens there will be a lot of talk about whether the outcome would’ve been different if Harbaugh had stuck with Smith under center.… Read more
