Golden State Warriors
San Antonio Spurs
s a rookie last year, small forward Harrison Barnes played 81 regular-season games. All 81 of those games were starts, and he was the starter in all 12 games of the Golden State Warriors’ impressive playoff run.
That is probably going to change, though. In the offseason, the Warriors signed wing man Andre Iguodala and though Barnes said that he has not spoken to coaches yet about what his role will be next year, it is more than likely that Iguodala will take over the starting small forward job. That would mean Barnes would go to the bench.
And, he says, he is OK with that.
“My role will remain the same—do whatever it takes to win,” Barnes told Sporting News on Monday. “Whether it is starting, coming off the bench. There are plenty of minutes to be divided up among everybody. I just have to make sure I am ready.”
What is more important, Barnes said, is that the Warriors did not rest on their laurels following last year’s breakout 47-35 season that saw them reach the second round ...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Golden State Warriors have a problem that a lot of teams wish they had right about now.
They have a lot of talent at shooting guard, on the wing, and everyone can’t play. With the addition of Andre Iguodala, the Warriors will now probably have to shift Harrison Barnes to sixth man.
Barnes started 81 games for the Warriors during the regular season, and finally started to...
SOMETHING TO PROVE
Before the start of the 2012-13 NBA season, ESPN rated the best players in the NBA, ranking them from No. 1 all the way down to No. 500. The Golden State Warriors have waived Dwayne Jones, Scott Machado and Kevin Murphy.
Jones appeared in 21 games last season in the D-League and was signed on the final day of the 12-13 regular season.
Machado appeared briefly in five playoff games last season with the Warriors.
Murphy was acquired by the Warriors in a trade with the Utah Jazz to acquire Andre Iguodala.
Few players have opened eyes this summer like Kent Bazemore. That doesn’t mean the second-year guard out of Old Dominion is guaranteed a place in some team’s starting lineup — or even on a roster — but the Golden State Warriors’ summer league games in Las Vegas became must-watch action (as far as summer league games go) thanks to Bazemore’s exploits.

On Monday night in Las Vegas, the Golden State Warriors smashed past the Phoenix Suns 91-77 to claim the inaugural NBA Summer League Championship.
Undrafted second-year guard Kent Bazemore added 18 points to cap what has been an impressive summer run.

The Golden State Warriors signed free agent center Jermaine O'Neal to a $2 million, one-year contract Tuesday.
O'Neal, a six-time NBA All-Star, had reached agreement on a contract two weeks ago.
Golden State is likely to use the 34-year-old O'Neal as a backup to Andrew Bogut. Festus Ezeli is working back from right knee surgery and is not expected to be ready to return...
Last year, ESPN ranked Warriors guard, Kent Bazemore, 499th in their annual list of the NBA’s best 500 players. Well, he is now using that as motivation as he had the number ’499′ stitched into the Under Armor shoes that he wore in the 2013 Las Vegas Summer League championship game Monday.
He was known for his bench celebrations last season, but was clearly motivated during...
Jermaine O’Neal is the latest addition to the Golden State Warriors.
It was almost a forgone conclusion that the 34-year-old center was done with basketball after 17 years in the NBA.

The NBA added a new twist to its Summer League by having championship games in both Orlando and Las Vegas. While some teams certainly did not take the competitive aspect as much to heart as others, it certainly added some spice to the proceedings.
And now there are two teams entering the history books. Or something.
