BY SEAN DONOVANThis offseason, the Miami Dolphins stood pat at the running back position with the expectation that one of their two young prospects would establish themselves as the primary rusher.Five games into the season, the Dolphins rank 28th in rushing, and some are questioning whether either Lamar Miller or Daniel Thomas will be able to seize the starting tailback position. That may not be apparent to the Dolphins players, either."Our coaches are really wanting one of the guys to step up," wide receiver Brian Hartline told NFL Network Wednesday. "You want someone to take the bull by the reins, and the coaches feel like that hasn't happened yet."The Dolphins haven't gotten consistent production from either, with Miller averaging 4.2 yards per carry and Thomas just 2.6. Hartline expects both to continue to rotate until one shows a little bit more."Until that happens we are going to see multiple guys coming out of the backfield," he said.Mill...

Suggestions for Coach Philbin during the Dolphins bye week

The Miami Dolphins got off to a great start to the season.  They started 3-0 and dreams of challenging the Patriots for the AFC crown were dancing in all Dolfans’ heads.  The Dolphins weren’t perfect, but they were still winning, so no one seemed to worry.  Ryan Tannehill was on a roll and had just lead the team down the field for a come from behind victory over the Falcons...

Is the Dolphins' Hunt for a Quarterback Finally Over?

BigRey actually came up with this question. Imagine that. BigRey is a star on Dolphin Shout! It is nice to get ideas from you guys, and all I need to do is expand on them. To answer that headline myself, I think our hunt for a quarterback is over. I think we found the right player. Tannehill sure shows a lot of what it takes to make it in this league. A quarterback needs a lot...

Dolphins remaining schedule is the “easiest” in the AFC

Ricky Williams: weed for me was like spinach for Popeye

In the old Popeye cartoon, the sailor man would pop open a can of spinach and gain the supernatural strength needed to defeat his longtime rival Bluto. In former NFL running back Ricky William’s heyday, he’d roll up a fat one for the strength needed to do his thing. Same thing right? Well they are both leafy green substances. I don’t agree that it was an Achilles heel, I kind...

Miami Dolphins: 2013 Week 6 NFL Power Rankings (#16)

Last week: 17 (+1) Record: 3-2 Ryan Tannehill is on pace to be sacked 77 times this season, which would break the record of the 2002 expansion Houston Texans, who allowed David Carr to be sacked 76 times. He probably won’t reach that number, but their offensive line is still a massive concern. Part of it is Ryan Tannehill’s fault, as he’s taking a sack on 33.8% of pressured...

Mike Wallace: Dolphins Need Urgency, Not Panic

Things can turn so quickly in a NFL season. Two weeks ago, the Miami Dolphins were one of the more surprising storylines of the 2013 season.
