PLAYERS: Roy Hibbert
TEAMS: Indiana Pacers
The season is over for the Indiana Pacers, but one player is not done having fun just yet. Big man Roy Hibbert has latched on to something that got kick started due to something he was seen doing on the bench during Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals Monday night--the man downed a bottle of Gatorade in about six seconds. In case you are wondering--that's incredibly fast. It appears as if some writers at USAToday decided to see if they could match Roy's time in chugging a 20 ounce Gatorade. Apparently it is not as easy as it seems. So when Roy caught wind of it he decided to take up the banner and started issuing the #royhibbertchallenge. Hey @dre_drummond_ I challenge u to the #RoyHibbertChallenge usat.ly/17XT1y8 — Roy Hibbert (@Hoya2aPacer) June 4, 2013 Lots of folks apparently have tried now, but none have succeeded. If you can, record it and send it to For The Win on their Twitter account,  @forthewin, using the hashtag #RoyHibbertChallenge. Plen...

Roy Hibbert thanks the Heat on Twitter

(Credit: zimbio.com) Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert made the world take notice when his squad pushed the favored Miami Heat to seven games in the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals. Hibbert’s character also shone through on several occasions. It’s easy to see he’s a humble, intelligent guy who’s worked himself to the bone to get to where he is. While Roy Hibbert can only...

Video of the Week: #RoyHibbertChallenge

While watching game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, I think we all started getting sidetracked from the blowout and started watching the other random things going on in the game. I mean who didn’t notice the ridiculous outfit that Justin Beiber was wearing (WHY DO YOU NEED SUNGLASSES INDOORS?) or Flo Rida’s Jesus Piece, which was about as big as my head. Yet, the most talked...

Roy Hibbert chugs a Gatorade on the Pacers bench during game 7

One thing that I learned from the below video is that I never want to challenge Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert to a Gatorade drinking contest. The below video is from last night’s Pacers/Heat game 7 and check out Roy chuggin’ a Fruit Punch Gatorade on the Pacers bench in record time: That’s under 10 seconds for 20 oz Gatorade….that’s pretty impressive to say the least.

When Roy Hibbert chugs a Gatorade, he really chugs a Gatorade (video)

Just because the Indiana Pacers came up well short of upending the Miami Heat on Monday night during the teams’ Game 7 showdown does not mean that maximum effort was not exerted by the players. Take Roy Hibbert, for instance. During a break in the action late in the third quarter and the Heat well [...]The post When Roy Hibbert chugs a Gatorade, he really chugs a Gatorade (video...

Roy Hibbert Hanging Two Posters Of His Block On Carmelo In His ‘Man Cave’

Got 2 of these now. 1 from a real good friend here in Indy. The other from the @pacers Def man cave material. twitter.com/Hoya2aPacer/st… — Roy Hibbert (@Hoya2aPacer) June 7, 2013 Now that his season has ended, Roy Hibbert is doing some redecorating around his house – starting with not one, but two posters of one of his more memorable blocks of the postseason. Remember his...

'Melo buys art — then Hibbert seves it

Carmelo Anthony sports himself as a bit of an art aficionado. So does Roy Hibbert. We're not sure they should be sharing a studio anytime soon, though. First, on Tuesday night, Anthony, whose well-documented playoff failures have become exacerbated in recent times by the success of LeBron James, recently spent another free June reportedly dropping $27,000 on ... According to...

Roy Hibbert & David West Leave Game 7 Without Shaking Hands With Heat

Roy Hibbert and David West were the only two Pacers to leave the court following the Game 7 loss to the Heat without exchanging words or hand shakes with any of Miami’s players. Poor sportsmanship or just an old-school move, refusing to give in to the rival opponent? According to the Indy Star: For West, it’s simple. He’s old school. He’s like the players in the 1980...

Free from Hibbert's shadow, the Heat unleashed

For six games in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Indiana Pacers made the Miami Heat—defending champions and winners of 27 consecutive victories in the regular season—appear oddly vulnerable, before the Heat reminded all of the advantages of having home court advantage and the game’s best player in Game 7.   Still, the manner in which the Pacers dragged the Heat...

Getting Fined for Being Honest

In today’s politically correct world I get tired of athletes getting fined because they cursed at a press conference.  Usually when that happens there will be a media outlet somewhere (because there’s always one) that will have a headline such as ”Brian Behnke curses at press conference”.  And when I see a headline like that I think to myself one thing ’Whoop-dee...

West and Hibbert channel KG and Rondo; leave floor without shaking hands with Heat players

It's a Game 7 tradition in Miami. The opponent loses a hard fought seven game series to the Heat, and then bypasses the traditional post-series handshakes and hugs, instead heading straight to the locker room. Last season it was Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett, this year it was Roy Hibbert and David West. From the Indy Star. Roy Hibbert and David West – like Boston’s...

TNT Has Largest Audience In History With Game 7

TNT's coverage of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals drew a record 11.5 million viewers. The game between the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers was the largest audience in TNT's 29-year history of broadcasting the NBA. Locally, the game averaged a 31.7 rating in Miami, but just 21.9 in Indianapolis. Roy Hibbert expressed frustration with the national media following Game...

Heat blitz Pacers to reach 3rd straight Finals

Ever since the Heat came together on a stage in July 2010 with the pyrotechnics and bravado of a team that was pre-ordained to do great things, intense scrutiny has focused upon them. Every mistake, hiccup, shoulder bump, missed shot, injury, misspoken word, tweet, gesture and breath has been dissected and examined to an unreal and unfathomable level. The Pacers seemed to expose...

6-3-2013: Heat-Pacers, Penn State, Paterno and the Law Plus Another Smart or Stupid & More!

Tonight we got ready for Game 7 between the Heat and Pacers. Thanks to Tommy Shoegler of Indiana’s New Center for joining me to talk about the first six games and to break down the decisive game. We also took a step back to discuss the controversial last game in Indiana, Roy Hibbert’s dumb comments as well as the NBA’s suspension of Chris Andersen and the refs questionable...
