Josh Satin‘s RBI-Double was one of three hits on his big day… The New York Mets beat the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 2-1 before 39,677 at Miller Park today on Hank Aaron Bobblehead Day. Game time temperature was a beautiful 87 degrees and the first pitch was at 1:10 pm. Jeremy Hefner was crisp and precise working quickly through seven innings while striking out eight and allowing only two hits and walk. Hefner gave up just one earned run on a home run to dead center by Jonathan Lucroy on an 0 – 2 count. Otherwise the kid was brilliant. The eight strikeouts matched a career high. Hefner now has a 1.27 ERA over his past seven starts and hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any of those outings. Tom Gorzelanny matched zeros with Hefner for the first three innings until the Mets broke through in the 4th with a run on a throwing error by Juan Francisco. The Brewers again were awful in the field and it cost them dearly. Josh Satin continued to rake extending his hitting str...

MLB Scout Says If Mets Are Serious About Competing In 2014, They Won’t Trade Parnell

Will Mets trade first homegrown closer since Randy Myers? As Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reported yesterday from a team source, Bill Madden of the Daily News, confirms that the Mets may not be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. The article also quotes a major league scout who hypothesizes that the Mets could be tempted to deal Bobby Parnell to the Red Sox for outfielder Jackie...

Mets 2, Brewers 1

Jeremy Hefner allowed one run on two hits over seven innings and the New York Mets turned two throwing errors by Milwaukee third baseman Juan Francisco into a pair of unearned runs and a 2-1 victory over the Brewers on Sunday. Josh Satin had two doubles and a single for the Mets, scoring one run and driving in the other to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. Hefner, who matched...

Daniel Murphy’s Fielding Cycle and Kirk Nieuwenhuis’ Offensive Outburst

On Friday night, the Mets hammered the Milwaukee Brewers, defeating them by the final score of 12-5.  The Bad News Brewers committed three errors on the field and a number of mental errors on the bases.  Despite the Brew Crew’s valiant effort to become the butt of David Letterman’s next Top Ten list, it was two Mets players who really stood out.  One went 0-for-6 but took...

Featured Post: Harvey’s Good, But Not Good(en) or Terrific — Yet

Where there’s smoke, there’s Matt Harvey’s fire. By the time I arrived at Shea Stadium in mid-June, a Dwight Gooden start had become a New York event. I had been watching Gooden baffle opponents on television over the first two months of the 1985 season. The first month he shut out the Philadelphia Phillies twice and the Cincinnati Reds. From May and early June he pitched into...

Mets 4, Giants 3(16)

Eric Young Jr. scored on shortstop Brandon Crawford's fielding error with two outs in the 16th inning, and the New York Mets outlasted the San Francisco Giants 4-3 in a game that ended early Tuesday morning. Young singled with one out and stole second. After he advanced to third on Daniel Murphy's groundout, lefty Javier Lopez entered and intentionally walked David Wright...
