At 52-years-old, Herschel Walker is far from what most would consider a decent age to play professional football. However, the former Heisman winner believes he could still put on the pads and hang with the best of 'em these days.“I can play in the NFL today,” Walker insisted to USA TODAY Sports. “I couldn’t take every snap. But running backs nowadays don’t play every down. Now they send in the choir section.“Physically, I can still do it.”Walker's comments come 25 years after the Dallas Cowboys traded him to the Minnesota Vikings for a package that included a whopping five players and six draft picks. It is often revered as one of the most lopsided trades in the history of the NFL.In his prime, the two-time Pro Bowler was known for a tough training regimen that included doing 1,500 push-ups and 3,500 sit-ups per day. Walker says he no longer adheres to such a strict routine, however, he says he still keeps his body in excellent shape. This may very well be true. But no one is immune to getting older and the effect it has on the human body. There was a time when Walker was one of the most fit athletes in the world. With that being said, it's tough to imagine he could realistically hold up in the league nowadays given his age. In the back of his mind, I have a feeling Walker knows this too, but pride keeps him from admitting it publicly.Via Pro Football Talk
