A routine practice for the Valley High School (Sacramento, Calif.) baseball team turned into a stunning display of teamwork after 16 varsity and junior varsity players and coach James Milholland pulled together to rescue a fellow high school student who had inadvertently become trapped underneath her mother’s car. The team was wrapping up their final practice of the season when they heard the girl screaming for help. Apparently the student from Laguna Creek High was being dropped off at Valley High for an after-school program when, as she was walking behind the vehicle, was accidentally run over by her mother and pinned beneath the car. That’s when the Valley High ball team sprang into action. From KCRA.com… She was being dropped off for an after-school program at Valley High when the Sacramento Police Department said her mother put the car in reverse, accidentally hitting her daughter. The Valley High players were in the midst of their last practice of the season when they heard screams for help. They sprang into action — hoisting the car while their coach pulled the girl from underneath. “We all just ran out there as a team,” varsity coach James Millholland said. “No one was saying much, and then the guys got around the car and just lifted it up. There was very little talking.” The girl was rushed to hospital with ear and arm injuries, but reports are saying that she is going to be OK, thanks to the quick thinking and heroic actions of the Valley High School varsity baseball team. Tip o’ the baseball cap to all of them for a job well done. [Prep Rally] The post High school baseball team redefines teamwork, saves girl trapped underneath car appeared first on Last Angry Fan.
