Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark is going to be all over ESPN’s programming this week as part of a summer internship with the broadcasting giants. Clark is attempting to build a career for after his playing days end and given his poise and charisma working for ESPN makes a lot of sense. However, Steelers fans may hope he stops joining shows until his playing days do end. On Monday, Steelers safety Ryan Clark was on ESPN and was talking about the impact that Wes Welker’s departure from New England would have. The last time a Steelers safety called out the Patriots it was Anthony Smith and he declared the Steelers would win their upcoming matchup with the Patriots, the didn’t and fans haven’t forgotten Smith’s guarantee. “I think what’s really underestimated is Wes Welker’s importance to not only the New England Patriots, but Tom Brady,” Clark said (via PFT). “Losing him is huge. … I know they think Danny Amendola can come in and have the same type of numbers he had with the Rams, but we also have to remember, he’s fragile.” Welker has been one of the NFL’s consistent players on the field and has missed very little time since joining the Patriots. Amendola, on the other hand, has only played in 12 games over the past two seasons. Running similar routes as Welker across the middle could cause Amendola to continue to miss time in the future. Clark also has a feeling that Tom Brady won’t be as comfortable without his security blanket in Welker. “When Tom Brady gets pressure and when you’re man-to-man and bumping those guys and making it hard for him to throw, he sees ghosts,” the Steelers safety said. “Even when guys aren’t around him, even when he’s not about to be sacked, when his clock goes off in his [...]

Steelers safety Ryan Clark said that when they played the Redskins last season, they realized that being physical with quarterback Robert Griffin III would make him uncomfortable and help them win the game. “Our goal was to be physical with him at any opportunity we had, and I think it affected his play,” Clark said, per ProFootballTalk.com. It seems like being physical with...

Ryan Clark is a Perfect Example of the Today’s Athlete

I’m just going to go ahead and get this out of the way. I’m old school. I’ve had my face mask grabbed by coaches. I’ve done suicides on a basketball court to the point of vomiting and I also learned valuable lessons about being a teammate, a leader and putting things other than myself first. Obviously this is the reason I struggle so much with the majority of today’s athletes...

Ryan Clark Said Tom Brady ‘Sees Ghosts’

Steelers safety Ryan Clark is studying up on how to be an ESPN talking head for a second career when he retires from the NFL in a few years.
