The Houston Texans signed eight players to reserve/future contracts, the team announced Thursday. Barring injury, the Texans’ starting signal-caller next year will almost certainly be Matt Schaub.  Even if backup quarterback T.J. Yates shines all spring and summer, it’s almost set in stone that he will be the No. 2 QB on the team in 2013. However, it looks like a quarterback competition is on its way in Houston and the battle will be brewing this offseason between two of the eight players the Texans signed on Thursday to future contracts. Case Keenum had a prolific collegiate career — to say the least — at the University of Houston and was picked up by the Texans as an undrafted free agent immediately following the 2012 NFL Draft.  After completing eight of 16 passes in three preseason appearances, Keenum spent his first year in the league on the team’s practice squad.
