Even though Tom Brady convincingly put the Texans’ season to an end, they can look back and be proud of many things they have accomplished in 2012. But the loss in Foxborough highlighted the fact that, as improved as this squad is, they still have some work to do before they are a serious threat to New England’s dominance in the AFC. Houston has only themselves to blame for squandering home-field advantage away at the end of the year, a mistake they will no doubt try to correct next year. Here’s a short list of things Houston will need to improve if they are to be a Super Bowl contender next year.

Dan Fouts blasts Tom Brady

Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts believes Tom Brady is getting a little help from the referees. When speaking on CBS Sports Network, Fouts had this to say: “Tom Brady has to be protected to be effective. He’s protected better than anybody — not only by his offensive line, but sometimes, by those guys in the striped shirts.” Fouts says more, but first I have to point out...

The NFL's winningest postseason quarterback is right where he belongs; on the verge of leading his team to yet another Super Bowl appearance. Seven times in his 11 years as a starter (not counting 2008 when he was injured). This is an astounding...

Shane Vereen, Tom Brady carry Patriots to AFC Championship game

It was a game that was closer than the Monday Night blowout earlier in the year, but it still wasn't as close as it looks. Vereen, Ridley aid injury-riddled Pats

Tom Brady was shaky early on, Wes Welker had an uncharacteristic drop, and Rob Gronkowski was nursing an injury that kept him from making any sort of impact. But Sunday night's Patriots' 41-28 AFC divisional-round victory over the Texans wasn't exactly a carbon copy of last year's heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the Giants. Quite the contrary, in fact, as the Patriots...

Elite QB or Balance?

Can you win the Super Bowl without a top 6 or 7 quarterback? It’s a debate that’s been transpiring on local sports radio for about a year now. The question has played out to perfection in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this year. With the rule changes in the NFL catering to offenses I was inclined to take the better QB in every game. Having the franchise QB means...

Wes Welker Has Most to Prove as Tom Brady, Patriots Look to Return to Super Bowl Without Rob Gronkowski

On Sunday afternoon, with Rob Gronkowski and his injured forearm in the locker room and Danny Woodhead having long left the field, Wes Welker was still going. He had six catches for 120 yards at the half, and he finished the game with eight catches for 131 yards. It wasn’t like many people noticed, though, with everything else that was happening. On a day that saw key injuries...
